Question about new active companion slots

praxismirrorspraxismirrors Member Posts: 313 Arc User
Active Companion Bonuses
All companions now have an Active Bonus that they grant to you or your summoned companion when they are in an Active Companion Slot. These Active Companion slots are on the left side of the Companion Window. You start with 3 and gain one at level 30 and a fifth slot on reaching level 60.

If you had purchased a companion active slot on the live server, when this goes live will you still have that extra companion slot (6 slots at level 60)

    The max is still 5.

If you purchased another active companion slot, the will only benefit from the extra slot if it is less than level 60 once module 2 comes out.

Nothing will happen. You are **** out of luck.

Kind of a bummer but whatever.

No, you will not get refunded the zen. You get to enjoy the benefits of the extra slot from the time you purchased it up until the time that module 2 is released.

well, you can only have 1 companion out with you at any given time (which sucks big time), buuuuut, with 5 active slots, you can train 4 more, or "cook" them, to their next level.

That is not the way paying customers should be treated....

...especially since the companion slots were on sale about the time when the companion active bonus came out on the preview server.

thats misleading and wrong to lure customers with a sale to buy stuff that is secretly decided to become entirely obliterate very soon...

It wasn't really "secretly" decided because anyone could go read the preview info to learn about coming changes, and companion slots weren't specifically on sale, though a shop category they belong to was marked down across the board.

I do agree that the store description should probably have been updated much sooner than the changes would go live.

I have to agree with the complaint here... although I realise I have had the benefit of the extra slot one of my characters purchased up until now, I'm still not convinced it's right that I no longer have an 'extra' one. It would make for good customer relations to allow characters who already had additional active slots to still have access to that many extra ones.

Yeah, put the Active Companion slots on sale. Get people to buy them. Then change it so you don't need to buy them.

That is not the ethical business practice of a company I would like to continue to give my money to.

And the HAMSTER about it wasn't a secret, you could have gone to the preview server.

Got news for you, some people don't ever go to preview servers, because they want to experience the changes when it goes live and not be tempted to try it out in advance and lose replayability.

Some people won't agree with me, some will agree with me, but in my eyes, this is theft. Of course in a legal standpoint it is not, because of the EULA that you agree to when you sign into the game.

But, just because they haven't done anything illegal, its still unethical and I'll do the only thing I can do, and speak with my walot.

People that bought it at level 60 did not get any benefit. There was no active companion slot bonuses in the game yet. The character could have been stored in the Idle slot, instead of an active slot and nothing would have changed.

If the purchase was account bound, then people would at least get a benefit on their new Ranger Characters.

Having a 6th, 7th and so on companion slot would not be irrelevant. Only five would be taken into account for companion bonusses but you could still have a slot to put a fully-equipped companion.

As is, if you used to havr a RP, or fun companion that you liked to play with when the situation was not requiring a Cat/Ioun, say the daily foundries or Sharandar quests, before module 2 you just had to click once to dismiss your augment and get your Quickling/Phoera/Leprechaun alive and kicking. Now with module 2 you have your active companion plus 4 other pets that you choose for their bonus and will never be active. Your Cat/Ioun becomes the only possible active companion, and your RP/fun pet is now idle forever in your inventory, its runestones and gear wasting six slots in your bank/inventory.

Companion bonusses were a nice idea, but were poorly implemented.

the official word on active companion slots is the maximum you can have at any time is 5. while they decided to change them in module 2 where you start with 3, get an extra one at level 30 and then obtain the 5th slot at level 60, all of this information was available here in the forums starting at the end of october, not just on the preview server.

for now, companion slots will remain in the zen shop for those that wish to obtain companion slots early. whether that will change in the future, we don't know.

to discuss refunds or questions about purchased active character slots prior to module 2, you need to contact customer support. there is nothing that we can do to address this inquiry at this level. and as this thread has already started to get a little flamey, we're going to close it.

click on the support link in my sig or send an email to customerservice@perfectworld.com if you'd like to contact customer support. thanks.
