Control Wizard - Human or Tiefling / WISDOM or CHARISMA

I know it probably depends on my playstyle. But I would like other player's opinions and suggestions.

Human or Tiefling?

Are the extra 3 feats worth it for human?

For a secondary stat, should I focus on Wisdom or Charisma?

Thanks everyone!

Sure... all those halflings from top PvP guilds are probably a fluke, they chose the race cause it looks like a freak child of sorts... who knows. Mysteries of NWO.

Min-maxing, Tiefling outshines other races in damage (due to +2 CHA, +2 INT and Bloodhunt), but the difference is very small indeed. Human gets +2 CHA/INT and 3% Learned Spellcaster.

So, race does not matter except in PvP. There Halfling wins by a large margin, but only for survivability due to its Deflection and HP bonus. In addition, CW's benefit the least of all the classes from the Deflection bonus because,

    1. they only get 0.5% Deflection per point from DEX and nothing else useful
    2. stacking Defense or even high Deflection on a CW is impractical or unsuitable for the role CWs are most often required in high level PvP (i.e. as a sniper or debuffer).

WIS used to be a reasonable stat for CWs pre-Feywild. It is virtually useless now and with the new upcoming major patch.

The main value of WIS is from the bonus to Recharge Speed Increase and AP gain. Both are good to have, but the role of CWs as AP/Daily spamming for control has diminished severely due to consecutive strong AP nerfs and much of the endgame content has been changed to reflect that. Thus, stacking WIS is less effective than just increasing your damage via CHA.

personally i have a teifling and it seems to me the 3 feat points for human comes out better for dps purposes as a cw learned spellcaster is HAMSTER those points go way farther in aoe damage feats wife has a cw human and she out dps me with equal gear so i use her toon and she used mine i out dps her and its not marginal try it out if you dont agree thats why i am invoking a second human cw when it hits 60 i am gearing it and changing for sure

let me tell you both cw are geared equally and stats same except i got 2 more int also feats are same with exception her extra 3 goes into boosted aoe damage and it makes a big difference

    tell me your thoughts

Uh... The point is that as a Human you can take the aoe feats and 5/5 Learned Spellcaster. As a Tiefling you can take the aoe feats and 2/5 Learned Spellcaster.

Your dps problems have nothing to do with race.

pprestdigitation does more dps than learned spell caster chec out your damage/heal with learned spellcaster then with prestdig it goes up alot more with prestidig i have re speced alot and kept notes you should take it and aoe increases over learned spell caster

if you think this is wrong please explain why the math and numbers i keep getting say learned spell caster is not worth my time

This is what I thought. I see alot of eats that could use those 3 extra points. I looked at several builds online for CWs and just looked at left over feats that could use those 3 and I BELIEVE it would be better than 2 extra stats. Not sure about the other 5% bonus damage from Tiefling though

i would say take human and take prestidig 3 and all other points in the aoe boost feats and learned spellcaster when rest are full

I have to agree there. My build utilizes Prestidigitation and AoE feats. I wish that Cryptic would fix our encounters so that they are all properly affected by stats and feats, though. Maybe one day they will be.

Personally, I prefer Wisdom over Charisma. More information is in my build thread.
