Stuck at Cryptic "Loading" screen

Enter userid and password. Hit Play. Then wait at the Cryptic "Loading" screen with the bar at the bottom a tiny fraction of white on the left.

I used CrypticError.exe to send a dump. Told
20767113
could be used to track the error.

I've had this problem from day one. Have NEVER been able to get into the game. Never once past this Loading screen. I have no trouble playing STO and Champions (and oodles of other games and websites), so something's clearly odd here.

Looking forward to hearing how I can get past this problem and actually, you know, try the bloody game.

Please advise.

    I have the same prob and trying to submit a ticket is a joke and what the heck dos "ping to bump thread " mean?

    same problem here,used to be that i couldn't move from the position that i loaded into in game and now I cant get past the first loading screen, yet my girlfriend sat next to me can play the game perfectly fine using the same internet and the same files.

    Hey everyone,

    To clarify - have you been able to bring up the brightness modifier screen? Or is it stuck even before that?

    i have it to and i use its here https://gateway.playneverwinter.com and i can't use that to it say

    What is a brightness modifier screen?

    As I said, I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET THE GAME TO START.

    Character selection screen? I've heard mention of such mythical creatures on the fora, but I've hand fed more unicorns so far...

    Gateway? Yeah. I did that. Guess what?

    You do not have any active characters at this time. Please log in to Neverwinter to create one.

    Gateway requires that you have at least one character.

    No ****. I CAN'T GET THE GAME FAR ENOUGH TO EVEN LET ME KNOW WHAT A CHARACTER IS, LET ALONE CREATE ONE.

    I'm pretty irritated. I used the CrypticError tool and sent the (massive) 2GB+ dump.
    Unsurprisingly, it took 3 tries to get the whole thing transmitted successfully.
    And....

    Nothing.

    No contact.

    Not acknowledgement here.

    Not even an automated email response blithely thanking me for my submission and I'll be contacted yadda yadda yadda...

    And NO way that I find find to check on the status of my issue/submission/report/waste-of-bloody-time


    What is 'bump'?
    It's me. Tapping this stoopid thread. In the obviously vain hope that one day someone from Cryptic will acknowledge my problem/ticket/issue/submission/whatever-you-want-to-call-it.

    So far, this has been one of the shoddier customer service experiences I've encountered.
    (and it's a tough call which is worse, the customer service-less or the game itself. Or what I presume is a game. What the media seems to call a game, at any rate. So far all I can tell is NW is some kind of network-bandwidth-hog and tap-here-to-be-disappointed-again game. The gameplay's pretty awful and there's no AI that I can tell, but on the upside the audio isn't offensive, there's no grind to speak of (just alternatingly dull and irritating) and it was almost worth the price ($0, and unlikely to ever increase - and increasingly doubtful STO or Champions, or anything else with the Cryptic or PWE label attached will ever see a dime from me...)

    Yeah. It's been a grand Lose-Lose experience all around.


    Would SOMEONE from Cryptic acknowledge my initial error report and tell me what I should do next?

    I have same error, cryptic launcher auto update, and dont conect, wtf happen?

    I suspect they changed their client patching technology and/or networking model, and the code quality's not up to snuff. STO and Champions have no problems, so 'twould seem NW does something very diffierent at the client and/or server side. And it needs some serious love and QA time.

    I'm running Windows 8 (new PC 6 months ago), and I'm running 64bit. No idea if either is relevant, though in this day and age neither should be.

    nVidia 660 Ti with drivers updated and current (had problem, updated drivers, still same problem).
    i7, 16GB RAM, connected to the net via NAT router. Pretty mundane stuff.
    NW is the ONLY game or other online resource I have a problem with.

    dude everyone has crappy problems they won't even respond My thread is about my client was working then after this recent patch my launcher won't even load .. and get a error number 33 etc so be lucky you can still make it to the character screen launcher is screwed and Cryptic has had same problem with STO I saw on their forums someone getting same problem in 2011 when STO was nearly new.

    I've never been able to get past the Cryptic 'Loading' screen.

    Zowie! I got past the Loading screen. Color calibration went fine, then prompted for character creation, Female/Male prompt...and hang

    I just updated today and now I'm having a problem getting past the Cryptic "loading" screen, but I don't even get a progress bar. I'm doing a full download (enabling the "Disable on-demand patching") and then will do a force verify once that's done and see if I can't get in again... Never had problems before today... :(

    Hey all - for those still encountering this issue, can you please try two things:
    1) Submit your error report again after a fresh boot
    2) Check if there is more than one instance of GameClient.exe running

    I too can't get past this **** screen. I quit. I'll play something else.

    Exit the client and restart with the "Safe Mode" option selected. In many chases, this failure to start seems to be tied to graphic setting since the last big patch. Safe mode starts you with the " Graphic Speed" setting torked way down. If this gets you in the game, I recommend looking at reducing the speed setting as appropriate. After the last patch, I couldn't get into the game at all on my notebook and this solved it for me. Cryptic has done a crappy job with this patch. As an additional note if any of you power users out there are using Virtu-MVP or any other video caching software disable it. That's a guaranteed client-crash every 10 minutes or so.. Everything worked fine before the expansion patch- Now running the client feels like walking on eggshells.
