Sylph companion (the fairy) not up to par?

does anyone else think this companion is underpowered? or just plain sucks? Mine has ALL blues, is level 29 and purple since its from the Feywild pack (not a free pet) and barely does 180 damage per hit.

I also have the portal hound which is GREEN and only level 12 with NO BLUES on and he easily does 250 damage per hit to the same monsters.

armored orce wolf is also green and level 13 and does same damage and the Sylph.

anyone else notice this companion turned out to be a fluke? If I would have known, I would have just bought a different pet, although I bought the pack for the Unicorn, fashion as well.

I'm loving my little Flying Cheerleader.
She generally has the good sense to stay away from the Red Spots Of Doom and just hit away from a distance, while allowing my heavy fighters to keep Agro. If you have a Squishy Toon then the heavier Mele Pets would work MUCH better, but for GWF, GF, and my experimental Heavy Mele Trickster Rogue she does wonders. She also seems to actually attack more frequently a great deal faster than the other pets. Of course I tend to put some nice gear on her with lots of Power and Life Steal, so that seems to help. Not the best gear, by a long shot, in fact completely inadequate by the standards of the Power Gamers, but still a couple of LVL 60 Purples and Blues.

I don't have the sylph so I can't comment on it's abilities. I do have the portal hound and that is a pretty nice little tank. It has an amazing interrupt that seems to stop almost all mob AOEs. I'm not sure if the interrupt was intended because it is not mentioned in the description and it is not a skill the pet has in it's list. It may just be a bug (if so I hope they leave it alone because it is the first non-healing useful ability I have seen in a companion). It seems like anytime a mob is about to do an AOE and the hound does it's portal bite the AOE is cancelled. My hound constantly stops the mobs in Feywild from doing any AOEs. He doesn't stop them all, but he stops so many that it must be accidental because there is no way they designed it to be like this. LOL. Now if he just held agro a bit better he would be a gem. He loses it a lot, just like the galub, but at least the hound gets it back quickly.

I leveled him to 30 on the preview server to see how he is. He doesn't die very often and he can solo a lot of the hard hitting mobs with slow attack speeds like the Goblin Hewer, Goblin Commander, Giantsoul, and Thorns. Faster hitting mobs like the War Troll will eventually kill him. He could be better, but he is still not bad for solo play. I would love to upgrade the hound on live but the price is just stupid so I don't think I will do it. If he was sold in the store as a purple pet I would probably buy it for my DC. I almost have to use a tank with my DC because she seems to be a paper doll that barely does damage. She takes damage like a TR (when they get hit) and can't heal herself even 1/2 as good as a GF can. My GF can go from almost dead to full health with a daily and encounter spam. DC has to trickle heal and can't keep up with the incoming damage.

I can tell you that the Sylph is hands down much better than the Panther, and that's comparing a Striker to a Controller. I found she still delivered damage, she can finish off minions on her own when I fight swarms of redcaps, and she has staying power the Panther doesn't have.

Overall, I'm not disappointed with my Sylph... and I haven't even geared her yet.
