Best race is half-orc. Strength and Dexterity are your most important stats. Racial bonuses have a minor influence on your performance though so just pick whatever race you like best.
Intelligence can be a nice stat to stack as well, or so I've heard, because it reduces the cooldown on your powers..? Something like that.

There is no such thing as a "best" race for a class. Most it deppends on how you will build the character. In this particular case, if you are aiming for a perma stealth build i would say to go for moon/sun elf, +2 to int and dex/cha along with boost to ap gain and resistance to CC seems the way to go for me, but its human could do the job well too.
For a dps rogue most like human, or half orc, but i have seen even dwarf rogues.
Just pick whatever suits your build better and be happy

Rofl, Dwarf with duelist flurry animation. That has to look hilarious! Btw I'm elf myself but imo the best choices are now either half-orc, human or sun elf. Not sure if drow can rival them.
I'm going with Drow (so far 26). Already have 2 other TR's at 60. My main a Tiefling and secondary Half-Elf.
Personally, aside from the previously mentioned by ravin, aesthetics, I went with Drow. Gives me +2 DEX, +2CHR, and Racial Trait....
Darkfire: You have 5% chance when attacking a foe to apply Darkfire for 4 seconds, reducing its Defense by 10%. This debuff does not stack, so if there are multiple Drow in a party, only one debuff is applied to any given foe; however, more than one foe can be affected by Darkfire.
I'm curious to see how that works out in endgame.
The Sun Elf does have appealing traits, so really, I think it will boil down to - if you had to pick between the two - whichever you like better after taking away the trait bonuses and traits.

20% more stealth and u can still get the dps perk. that's 20% more combat advantage. that's 20% longer bonus crit severity, and that's more action point gain. all in addition to the utility that the extra stealth provides itself.
other classes don't get that much flexibility
I think the OP was asking which of the two races - Sun Elf or Drow - would make for a better Trickster Rogue. I don't think the op meant, "which of all races available would be the best choice for Trickster Rogue?"

The Wood Elf gets:
* +2 Dexterity with either +2 Intelligence *or* +2 Wisdom.
* Elven Accuracy: Increases your chance to Critically Strike by 1%
* Wild Step: 10% Resistance to effects that *slow your movement*.
All in all, it isn't the worst choice for TR but it does benefit the TR role at least. If you're asking if it's okay, IMHO, it is "okay" for a TR on the fact you get +2 Dex and +1% Crit. Not the greatest ability stat choices/class traits but fair enough.
*Personal/Side note: I'm an advocater of diversity and testing in manners that some would consider far from "hardcore elitist". If you like the Wood Elf, go for it. It does support the TR class in some ways so there's that. Again, it's not the best, but it's not the worst either.

Anything that gives Int to a rogue is laughably bad. You just don't need it at all, neither in pvp or pve. The best built pve rogues are Human. The best pvp rogue class is halfling by far. Want a cool looking Drow? Go ahead, enjoy your useless fire healing racial while my halfling gets 3% deflect or 10% cc reduction.

I play a halfling as well. Consistently top of pvp charts and either 1st or second (by very little) on the dmg meters in zones. I use a greater vorpal and mostly r7/8 enchants. Survivability is always the best choice for rogues.
To answer the OP, it's been answered.. It comes down to the traits you want. Both are playable.
..then the Drow comes and bangs you with pvorpal and rank 8+ enchants.
Being a halfling myself, and seen those drows sometimes.
They are not very smart if they rolled a Drow to make a P2W character. Most likely they weren't that geared. Anyway, ideally you want both the gear and the race.

I don't know about Sun Elf, but Drow gets +2 DEX and + 2 CHA (CHA or something else I forgot). DEX is TR's primary stat and CHA is a secondary. So I don't see how Drow wouldn't be a good race for it?
