How do I set an NPC as a monster that can be fought/killed?

How do I make "Boss" encounters, where you fight a "NPC" such as a fire imp?

Other foundry quests must have done something like this (Clash of Wills), because the bosses are listed as NPC's in the foundry...

I just started foundry a couple days ago :) Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!

You make the npc disappear, and a mob with the same costume appear in it's place. You can not change the faction of creatures.

This is what I was wondering how to do. When you want to use just a single NPC as an opponent, how exactly do you use the "mob"? Each mob encounter I've seen has multiple opponents in it. How do you jig it so it's just one? The tip about the making the npc disappear though, I at least got that.

There are multiple ways to achieve the same effect, but as far as I know there are 2 encounters that come as a single unit. Sadly, both encounters are melee. I don't remember their names but look for single units in the "standard" and "hard" encounter options. One of the units is a Wight Commander I think, and the other is an Ogre I think.

The other option is to kill off the units that you don't want to use on spawn. So what most do is drop them in a fire or some area where those units would die. Doing that would leave the units u need alive, but may cause the living unit to run towards the units that are dying if they don't die instantly. Unless you have a method for killing units right away, you might want to go with first option.

This is one of the biggest limitations with the foundry. There are very few single standalone encounters that you can use. I hate group encounters, so I spend a lot of time reskinning these few single encounters. The Devs have said they're going to let us edit encounters in the new expansion, so I'm hoping that means we'll be able to separate the groups into single encounters.

But for now, here's a list of the single encounters you can use:

Drow Melee Easy 1 = Assassin
Orc Melee Standard 1 = Ogre
Orc Ranged Standard 2 = Eye of Gruumsh
    Rebel Melee Standard = Enforcer
    Rebel Ranged Standard = Hexer
Spider Melee Standard = Tomb Spider
Undead Melee Hard = Battle Wight Commander
Undead Melee Standard 1 = Battle Wight
Undead Melee Standard 4 = Hulk
Undead Ranged Standard 1 = Deathlock Wight
Foulspawn Melee Easy 1 = Berserker
Foulspawn Melee Standard 3 = Red Hulk (probably the hardest encounter in the foundry, good for a boss)
