Quest: 422 - Yeenoghu's Bride (Run-time - 30 minutes)

You've heard it all before: the search for missing people, suggestion of occult forces at work, the desperate need for a hero. That may have been your traditional Fairy Tale, but this story is different, so very different: a legend in the making.

Dare you venture to the blackened-heart of the ABYSS itself?

- Defend the material plane from assault,
- Sail across the River Styx,
- Fight across the Abyssal Ocean,
- Travel and witness the landmarks of Yeenoghu's Realm,
- Use guile to finally enter The Destroyer's sacred temple,

Your adventure will take you across more than four imaginatively built maps, containing over 2000 individually placed objects. Battle half-a-dozen "Monster Manual" creatures, new to Neverwinter Online.

A few screenshots to whet your appetite....

Ferryman and the fleet of Malagash Unosh

You have the responsibility for how this epic story concludes....

The Demonomincon of Iggwilv offers the experienced player a deeper insight into The Beast of Butchery and the 422nd layer of the Abyss, and can be found at WOTC's website:

This looks pretty neat, i'm drawn in just to explore your maps. :) My tester is a level 60 Cleric, known for being a bit... squishy. Will she be able to solo it?

We're also looking for new members with quests to review in our out-of-game reviewing guild, if you're interested. :) There is more info on our forum thread.

Yes, it's L60 squishy cleric friendly. 95% of the fights are against standard mobs. There's one elite (optional) and one stack (but the quest offers you assistance if you read the conversation just before.)

Thanks - I'll investigate your reviewing guild.

Very nice maps! I was in awe over all the work you put into them. :) Also really enjoyed your custom mobs. I may need to run it again with a different character to see them better, as my Cleric skills and plague fire weapon enchantment kind of covered them up in special effects.

I'll send you my notes in a forum private message. :)

picking this one up in a sec.

*edit* finished and rated. good story and environments was a lot of fun. only thing i noticed that seemed out of place instead of intentional was a few of the re-spawn fires are floating a bit.

Looking forward to your interpretation of the Abyss. Which level did you choose (unless that's a spoiler?) :)

Played and reviewed it. Great job!

Loved watching the battle! Great set piece.

Great environments - I can see the effort put in. So many nice creative touches... like the flail on the statue.

A minor nitpick - (simply because I tend to be a costume freak) - maybe change the helm or its color on the paladin costume -> I think it just does not suit the armor.

On many [OOC] lines - maybe put a period after them?

    Shouldn't LoreMaster be Loremaster?

I thought i saw mob called PIrate?

In Zarrack dialogue - it should be Queen of the Succubi (not Succubus)

In Rekla dialogue - put . after fool's errand

In any case a great quest overall!

Always happy to trade reviews! :)

Just finished playing. Left an in-game review and a tip for ya!

Great adventure. It's fun to travel to other realms like this. And it's clear that you spent a LOT of time arranging elements on the maps to create an interesting setting. Thanks!

Feuygar, thanks SO MUCH for making this. It was a blast to play through. I can't begin to fathom how much time you spent building the outpost, the ship area, the ziggurat...and that statue! Wow! Your multiple endings were a nice touch, too. I'm inspired to think really big for my next project.

I saw a few minor punctuation mistakes along the way, but I was having too much fun to write them down. I do remember that you used several different spellings of "Zarrack" during one dialogue--I think it was at the Bechard's Landing(?) area?

I'd be interested to hear your opinion of the second quest in my signature. It's got some world-building, but nothing on your scale.

Winterswitch, I searched for your thread for the Green Zone but couldn't find it - Just to say really really enjoyed it. Very creative and well thought through, and great FUN; which is a thing that many quests forget about. I'll send you a message about the minor stuff.

Well the map details could do with some work. I should clarify that I am not an author and when author's give feedback on floating objects and such in quests I have played, it is usually not something I have noticed. However the reverse seems to be true here, though thalazar has picked up on the floating campfires.

    Other things I noticed -
The rampart walls could be walked through, despite being made of solid stone (not sure if there is anything you can do about that).
The ladder taking us up to Loremaster Zarrack sits very unstably on the steps.
The siege engines etc. were great, but there is a lot of landspace within the fort and the beach which would have looked less barren and a little more natural if a bit more detail had been added...weeds, around the sentry boxes, debris on the beach, flotsam in the water etc.
Rock has grown around the lighthouse door, rendering it inaccessible.
Overlapping placement of stone paths around the ziggurat, as if they were rugs not rocks. I'm not sure if the haphazardness is supposed to represent chaos, but it looked a little off to me.
The altars at the top were not aligned.

I really liked the Ziggurat map though, and holy hells that idol of Yeenoghu was...well you have to see it to believe the size. Screenshots do not do it justice. The sky, lightning effects and city on wheels (fantastic!) all added to a convincing feeling of otherworldliness.

I also liked the inclusion of fighting scenes, both on the beach as you enter (very D3) and in the temple at the end. Oh and the end *grins* I do like a choice with real consequences.

I hope you don't mind the feedback. I think the quest is good (story was well told and no issues with grammar) but the whole thing could be great with a little more detailing :)

Played and reviewed. Good quest overall. Very story driven with a lot of detail. Combat was spaced nicely.

My only criticism is too much travel time (i have a slow mount). Maybe with more details to look at it wouldn't be such an issue. However, since the maps are so large, it may be hard to make the details really stand out.

    That was awesome;

The maps you made here were stunning, sure some of them need more details but found them to be tremendly original and creative. I loved the zigurat. Once I've reached the top and killed the guards, looked deep to the horizon and felt great, truly a rewarding experience, and that statue... dude that was huge! How many hours did it take you to make it? Amazing.

I'd suggest to add more details to every map and considering the size of your maps I know it will be hard, but worth to try. They are already stunning but, just imagine how awesome they can be with more details!

I could talk about the maps during all the day but I don't want to bore you and the other authors hehe... well.

    What can I say about the story? Too bad I could not enter the crypts since I'm in love with anything related to the Undead! Anyway;

The story was addicting as hell, great job! Came to my mind that you could add a bestiary, I'm sure some curious people like me would like to know more about your foes and the creatures that you face during the journey, but this is a crazy idea of mine, just an idea.

    Overall? Five well deserved stars.

Hope to see more from you.

Ugh, I played all the way till the entrance to the secret passage on top of the pyramid and the game kicked me out, and I couldn't login from there because each time it would kick me out, I had to start from the latest non adventure map, and I can't get into any maps of the quest, I think there is a problem with the foundry maps.
So I'll give you my opinion on everything I was able to play.
I loved the maps, the one with the ships was very well constructed. The one with the ravine could have had some more details into it, it looked a bit empty.
The storyline was nice, I was curious on what was going to happen. I loved the big rock guy, very well constructed.

Wow, that was impressive. You certainly demonstrated that the assets of the foundry can be used to build just about any setting in the Forgotten Realms if you are able to use them creatively.

Just one small typo to report. In Zarrack's first conversation in level 422 he says that others "rulled" instead of ruled before Yeenoghu

    Great work!

You wrote that you did not find the fourth seal. Drop me a PM and tell me which ones you *did* find, and I'll tell you where's the missing one ;) You should be able to return to To'hama map, provided that you did not abandon the quest.
