Suggestion: Player homes!

Player homes. How they would work; What they would be for; And additional thoughts.

First Let me state that I realize this is a topic that has been brought up before. But not in great length or detail.

How It would work:

First How they would work. Currently with the foundry system we have the ability to make our own dungeons and ect. It would be easy to make/create our own homes. (and for those who cant navigate the foundry controls easily maybe a few premades.) Could be a location on the world map that just says Player Home. And depending on weither you have bought the Key/Deed/Token whatever it may be, Will be able to access it.

What their intended for:

Storage, Valuables, immersion! Buyable chests for additional storage. I know personally I have a TON of Transmog/fashion pieces that I'd like to be able to switch between (without having to go to the Reclaim guy).
I collect just about every gem/rune/whatever you want to call them! and my bank is full! but having a nice little chest at home would be nice!

A player bed! would act like a Campfire. Restoring wounds, health, and maybe able to invoke. I like the idea of being able to sleep to restore wounds, or reduce them to minor wounds! And I don't believe it would be exploited in the fact that you have to go to the world map to reach your home. same as running back to town to grab an injury kit.

Immersion. To you roleplayers out there! wouldn't you like to have a home for your character? I mean were mighty warriors, wizards, devoted clerics, and shadow stalkers! We deserve a better place to lay our weary bodies then on the streets of Neverwinter!

Additional thoughts:
Give us a reason to save our gold! Up until level 20 when I had to dish out 5 gold for that first mount. And maybe a couple potions and injury kits. I've got no use for gold.. Have us save up that gold and buy our house/deed! Bring back the use for gold! not just AD. OR ZEN, I know these help the developers, and honestly I wouldn't mind spending some ZEN/AD/Gold to get my very own house.

But these are just some of my thoughts, and suggestions should a Dev read. Feel free to add ideas! Its a topic I'm interested in seeing other players feedback!

    Additional Thoughts:
Room size, items to decorate home (i.e. Chairs, tables, furniture, misc.) Cost = Gold
You could leave your idle companions at your home where you could view them.

I could see future items on the Z Store for in-game home items! A better bed or a cool looking piece of furniture! Just something to get the players interested in!

They implemented player housing in Champions Online. There, it was implemented as a series of templates, and you bought a specific "flavor" of template, which had a few different customization options.

To put it in NW terms, imagine you could pick from a cottage, a cave, and a tower.

It would then be broken down something like:

    Cottage:
    A. Farm house
    B. Tavern
    C. Stable

    Cave:
    A. Dank hovel
    B. Thieves' retreat
    C. Dungeon

    Tower:
    A. Royal quarters
    B. Mage's sanctum
    C. Military barracks

Each sub-category would have the same basic stuff - like access to your personal bank, perhaps some account storage, the auction house, etc. Beyond that, there'd be some choices relating back to the overall theme of the house type. For instance, all version of the cottage may have a fireplace as an option, but only the tavern would have a bar. The stable would have an area where you can display some horses, and the farm house might have bales of hay or barrels as an option instead...

I love player housing. For this game it would be perfect. Eq2 has the perfect housing system, hope they consider something like this for NW.

i like decoration just like i have did on eq2's house system. but rather have something to build on as sort of "expandable" when we had enough to spend to upgrade existing "lot" same as Horizons: Istaria's house, but without 'decay' effect or upkeep which that is too tedious and break immersion.
i agree to have a seperate zoning for housings.

anyway, yes, i also agree with "bug fix" come first.

    having
"create dungeon" format is good idea, it would allow more creativity freedom than eq2's format so we could convert some old loots into house items, also let us move the placeables for trophies, old weapons, armor stands and add some chest formats for crafters, gems, or bounty tokens.

I do like the create dungeon format, displaying items would be great too. It really does add to immersion.

Like sort of a mini-Foundry type of thing? That could be interesting - especially if there was a category of "reward" items that were unlocked based upon various perks/titles you've gained.

Yeah, you could create/design your own house. If there was some way to sell designs for AD lol! The rewards could be tied into the achievements system too. Kill fifty kobolds get a mini statue or plaque to display in your house etc.

Both STO and CO have "Versions" of homes. With CO building off STOs bridge system. Part of me expects we will see some form of housing in the future. Its part of the engine, its something past games have, the mechanics are there, its just missing art assets.

The more reasonable part of me, however. Isn't so sure. While, no one has come out and said it. My feelings are CO's hideouts bombed, big time. Once the initial run was made, nothing more was ever done with it. It wasn't even just a case of it being ignored. They pulled the lead artist, responsible for the design of them and moved him to a different game. In one fell stroke they pretty much made sure there would be no more hideouts again, period. This feeling is also partially confirmed by the fact that there have not been any new bridges for STO in some time either.

Now, it could be said that, this simply leaves the door open here in NW, for them to do something new. Perhaps that is the case. But new will take time, potentially a lot of time. Or it could simply mean that Cryptic has decided homes and hideouts just arnt big enough sellers to try again. Either way, its not all that encouraging.

If they price it right, it'll sell.
i.e, not 4k zen for the base house + 2k for a chair, etc...
