In the quest I was working on I got some error about a missing component but I can't tell what the missing element is and there is no indication of what it is in the missing part under the map...
Is there any way to figure this type of thing out without manually having to look at every single component in the entire map?

Did you check your story tab? Maybe you've selected an objective to use a component, and forgot to choose the component. I think you should see the yellow triangle next to the story objective that's missing the component.

I had a similar issue, then i figured out that it was caused because i've set two different objectives as dialog with a same NPC, i had to spawn a second version of the same npc for the second dialog in order for it to work.

That sounds like the problem. It was a fairly new issue that appeared even on quests that had no errors before.
There was a sticky about it, but it appears to be gone now.

I'll have to check that out...
As far as the ! error message goes it shows up in the main screen where you put in the title, and story description, etc. but the ! error doesn't show up in map or in story screens... and the one in the main title screen has [undefined] near the end of it.
It might well be the second npc needed problem becuase I think I have them going to 2 different npcs more than one time. I created a second one for one of them, but not for the other yet... will try that tonight.

The only thing the Quest tab needs is the title and a description. And in both make sure you don't have any words that would trigger the filter. Even otherwise harmless words.
It was the need of two npc thing. It'd be nice if they'd make it so that the npc at least give you some clue about it, or tool tip explaining that you can only use one npc per objective.

It should take you too and select the dialog/story/whatever that has the missing component.
