no strafe

this game has no strafe. while tanking, turning your back to mobs to reposition is foolish and removes passive mitigation. and yes i realize i could use guard and stay facing the mob to reposition. however, guard snares you to a slow walk, and burns up your limited guard meter on simple hits you should not be using it for.

ps, if you think A and D currently make you strafe please don't even comment, you don't understand what strafing is, and i'm simply not interested in educating you.

I was following you until your last sentence. Since you've posted in the Bug Report section complaining about the lack of a feature on a particular class, let's do this: we're speaking specifically about Guardian Fighters
    this game has no strafe.
You can move side to side with every class.
Taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafing_(gaming) (because all dictionaries have a completely different definition of 'strafe')
..strafing is the technique of moving the player's character from side to side, rather than forward and backward.

Now that we have the 5 year-old antics out of the way let's talk about your referenced ordered list you didn't make.
while tanking, turning your back to mobs to reposition is foolish and removes passive mitigation. and yes i realize i could use guard and stay facing the mob to reposition. however, guard snares you to a slow walk,
This class has been built just like all other classes; with a dire choice. For Guardian Fighers: Block, taking nearly 0% damage yet become almost immobile, or remove your guard to reposition and take 100% of the damage, minus mitigation from character stats. It's balanced because of that choice.
and burns up your limited guard meter on simple hits you should not be using it for.
So you want to reposition but not take damage, but what you just said was the damage is so insignificant that you shouldn't block it and you can take the heat.

Of the other 60's I've played, GF is my favorite and it's the class I've put most of my resources into. You'll inherit defense and deflection whether you want it or not and you can build the GF several different ways such as full-on debuff turtle, hybrid DPS tank, or straight up DPS nightmare. There are more, but derivatives.

To be constructive and actually suggest something to you to make GF more fun, learn to time your blocks and reposition by accepting the slow speed of movement and move sparingly. There are skills that knock back the enemy which let you back off without guard. Understand which stats and skills you want and make sure you select the feats that compliment them. Gear is a large factor in this as well since the different sets have higher stat values in different areas. Choose your path early on (or respec at 60) and work towards those stats.

Block is amazing, but just like any other skill, it's just another skill with limitations and it's up to you how much you depend on it and when and when not to use it.
