The booster pack says it there is a chance of getting an epic, rare, or uncommon alchemy asset OR resources. Does anyone know if this is a 50/50 chance either way? If this is the case, it seems like you'd get more bang for your buck by going with the smaller booster packs. For the price of the expensive pack (1600) you can buy 5ish booster packs. With 5 tries you're almost guaranteed more alchemy assets than what you'd get from the profession asset pack, assuming a 50% chance. Anyone have experience with these? I don't want to blow my load on a bad deal.

Please believe me when I say I'm not trying to vex, irritate or troll you. But I HAVE to ask you a simple question and genuinely would like an answer.
Why would you pay REAL cash, to GAMBLE on potentially varying incorporeal virtual rewards?
That's like saying "I like my 10 bucks, but I'm not sure if it's worth $10, $5 or $3 so I'll leave it up to fate to decide"

I spent $59.99 supporting the game because I enjoy playing it. Since then I've acquired a modest 5 million AD selling items on the AH and am looking to convert some of it into zen.

the booster pack you are guaranteed 1 asset, sure it can be epic/rare/uncommon but you get one. you are also going have a chance at more than one and you get a load of resources, sure some you might not need but still you get some extra for 300 zen.
the asset pack, all you get is assets. sure your getting 5 and you are guaranteed atleast 1 rare asset. sure you can get more than one, or you can get more epic ones but all you get is 5 assets for 1600 zen.
now if you bought 5 boosters you will spend 1500 zen and get 5 assets (the same as the asset pack), sure they could all be common but you still get 5 assets. right there you have saved 100 zen by buying the boosters over the asset
unless you feel 1 guaranteed rare is worth that extra 100 zen and all of the resources that the boosters are not worth more than that one rare asset and the extra 100 zen, then go for the asset pack.
now with the alchemy bonus item, sure the asset pack is now more on par with just purchasing 5 boosters because now with that 1600 zen you are getting 6 assets, at least one of them rare where if you get 5 boosters you then are still only guaranteed 5 assets (could be more tho) and all of the extra resources.
tl;dr in my opinion, unless you really want a better chance at one rare asset you need, just buy boosters until they either reduce the price of the asset pack or add lots of resources to it.
Asset pack = All 4 of them are assets but only 1 in 4 chance to get a very rare asset (cost 1600 Zen)
Booster pack = 1 in 4 chance to get a very rare asset (cost 300 Zen). You can buy 5 booster pack for 1 asset pack.
IMHO Asset pack should be around 1200 zen not 1600 zen.
It's entirely possible esp if you play the AD/Zen market smartly. Buy zen while they are low then resell them while they are high. Or you can invest in crafting tools combine 4 rare and make an epic one that sells for 5x more than what 4 rare ones are worth. If you are the gambling type you can do the nightmare box lottery.. a 125 zen investment and you can potentially earn back something worth 100 times more.
I bought two of the 1600 packs when the Zen to AD exchange was lower.
Was not nearly worth it... Ended up losing around 600k AD value.
Maybe I was just unlucky, but I wouldn't recommend it.
The 300 packs tend to be worthwhile though, especially with the current bonus. Some you lose, some you win. If you lose, it's not that much. If you win, it can be by a very significant amount. Overall a fun gamble that can be rewarding.
I got a grandmaster alchemist asset today with just 300 zen investment. So lucky!
That is REALLY lucky!
I think I've opened around 10-15 since the alchemy bonus started, and I haven't gotten any purple assets. Got a blue alchemy tool and two green ones though. And a bunch of blue and green alchemists and other workers. Couple dragon eggs, too, but they're not worth as much as purple assets.
