Regarding Proposed BoP Changes

Hi All,

I'm curious, if BoP were implemented on T1 and T2 gear, or even just T2 gear, what incentive would there be for paid players to buy AD with their Zen?

Is there evidence to support that buying cats, rushing crafting, or purchasing Enchantments for less than BiS slot gear would continue to drive a Zen to AD conversion rate that players find acceptable, or even drive it at all?

If AD suddenly became remarkably less valuable against Zen, due to a significantly lower demand for AD since many goods that are desired could no longer be purchased with AD, would the ensuing rise in Zen value sit well with players who seek to trade their time and AD earned for Zen for essential services such as Respecs, additional Character Slots, Storage Slots, recommended Companions, Profession Resources, etc...?

It seems there would still be a reason for players to gather AD, but it would largely be to trade for tertiary resources and secondary gear in the AH, and to potentially spend much greater amounts of it to gain access to Zen store content. And that's assuming that there'd be enough demand for AD from Zen providers to even have any Zen available for purchase with AD at all.

I can see how introducing a BoP system would help players to feel like they're truly progressing, but I wonder about the possible damage to the economy, especially regarding keeping the Zen to AD exchange rate manageable. Has anyone raised this concern, measured how much of the AD being purchased is being used to buy this type of gear, or otherwise studied the potential impact on the economy?

I can't see the future any more clearly than the next person, but I worry that we'd see the Zen being traded for AD dry up by quite a bit if BiS gear can no longer be purchased by AD that has been purchased with said Zen. Especially since most of the other commonly desired goods can be purchased directly with Zen, such as Mounts, Companions, Profession Resources, and potentially even Enchantments through the clever use of Lockboxes.

Can anyone verify what the repercussions for the Zen to AD exchange would actually be if BoP were implemented? What impact would it have on the game's revenue? Could it potentially damage the longevity of the game?

Please share what you can.
