Poor dungeon design, along with poor class design and/or exploits = multiple speed runs during DD for select classes = flood of equipment in-game = no ego boost/excitement/justification for your time spent in gaining your new helmet.
Now, instead of addressing dungeon design, exploits and making ALL the classes equally useful in a group, the devs have decided to try and artificially inflate the economy while also trying to artificially inflate the desirability of other classes.
Since BoP will not change BoE items earned before the update players that can currently run multiple DDs will not place as many items on the market, but will instead keep items either for their alts, or retain them for the inflation that will no doubt hit the economy after BoP goes live. Thus the cost of items will be inflated, earning more dollars for PWE while at the same time playing to the "you have to earn it to wear it" crowd. Because of the above, BoP will go live regardless of player feedback because to do otherwise would destroy the economy and the income for PWE as a massive amount of gear would flood the market for super cheap as soon as the idea of BoP is killed.
After BoP goes live the chances of people running a 5 class group, especially in guilds, and during non-DD time will go up. Not because they are the most effective but because BoP means that not having the right class in the group when the ultra-mega-super-duper item drops is just a waste of time. Thus you inflate the desirability of classes simply because people don't want to waste time and effort.
A side effect of this is an increased difficulty in getting groups. If all items are BoP then clerics who are fully geared have no incentive to run dungeons. The same holds true for other classes as well, but game design is such that cleric is probably the only must have in every single group. Other classes are interchangeable.
This system also only benefits players who have the time, knowledge, and appropriate classes to complete DD speed runs. They will gain more gear now, sell it for more AD later, and continue to acquire gear at a faster rate.
The losers of this system are those that cannot be on during DD events and or do not play the desired classes. They will be forced into a continue time sink of running dungeons over and over again hoping for random item drops.
The sad thing is this change won't make me want to run Dungeons. The current loot system in general makes it so I don't want to party. (even with friends) We made a guild just to avoid having to party to chat.
Will this change go live, most likely.
Will it drive even more people away, most likely.
Will it get more people to do Dungeon delves, not likely.
i like bop items. it gets rid of the pay2win players that by all the gear to enter instances.

I'm just going to repost this in every thread.
Having end-game gear as BoE is a terrible design decision which leads to situations where upon reaching end-game instead of doing dungeons you farm gold to buy the gear from the AH.

Having Gear available to all is good. You won;t be judged by your Gear Score if everyone is well geared. Limiting access only makes the Elitists happy.
No Need on items you can't use, Need Binds, any loot won on Greed rolls is Bind on Equip. I have not seen a better solution on any of the thousands of posts I've read on the subject.

I'm amazed at how many people are flipping out about there being BoP gear. World of Warcraft had BoP since the beginning and it's lasted for years. People just like to ***** no matter what happens good or bad.

Im not here to play wow.
I have literally never had any good drops from any delve chest or any other runs. Ive made my money for my gear frrom the ancient slavemaster rings from CN, and the CN boss drop rogue dagger. After finally getting my gear, why in gods hell would i run dungeons for literally NO reward whatsoever, especially when i NEVER had any good drops anyway? This is beyong HAMSTER, and people came here to play neverwinter, not wow.

Very true. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the mechanics of Neverwinter, but I'm here for the lore and for the chance to adventure and roleplay within Faeraun.
I managed to gear my DC from delves, either way you're going to get a purple at the end of an epic. It usually takes a bit to get your characters geared. So expecting to be able to just buy the best gear doesn't make sense, what's the point?
Point is to play the game, not just buy your stuff.

So you have your character geared, what are you planning on doing with them then? At some point people run dungeons just because, not for gear.

This will be the patch that will kill what's left of the casual crowd in Nevewinter .
