How PvP "should be"

This is my personal opinion on what PvP should be.

PvP usually mean "player vs player" It use to mean that a player skill/tactics is better than the other. The problem is that when you put in "gear" then it becomes unbalance PvP (better gear + skill usually trump skill) A couple of years ago WoW was doing massive PvP tournament. They even have a special server for it. This got me thinking.

Why not have PvP on the same playing level?

First we need to break down PvP into Brackets
Entry 0-1000 points
Advance 1001 to 5000 points
Professional 5001 to 10000 points
Epic

Everyone starts at 0 points. You can create a character specifically for PvP ONLY. This character cannot PvE. When you create a character, you have access to all the items you need for PvP within that bracket. Everyone entering PvP will have the same access to equipment and enchantment. this will make PvP into tactic/luck/skill base instead of gear.

Once you Earn so many wins you can advance to the next level of PvP and have access to more equipment for that fight.

Each rank/win can help you earn AD for your account. It can unlock titles and gear for PvE use. The higher the rank, the higher the reward. (more AD with diminishing return if you win multiple in a single day, but also still win normal amount of gold/points etc etc)

You can have PvP template of pre-set gear you can make (unlockable by winning or by zen) so if you are in entry level, you can play with your entry level friend using specific set for that level (i.e. if you are Pro but want to PvP in entry, you can't use Pro level gear in entry combat)

I am basing this off many PvP type tournament in game that usually make sure that character wise are equal (Cleric vs Cleric) but it boils down to skill choices and tactics.

Now of course there is luck factor and balance, but when it comes to different archtype character, you can't really balance for one to one (Cleric vs fighter or mage vs TR) it is more of a team base.
To grow old is inevitable, to grow up is optional.
Please review my campaign and I'll return the favor.

Might as well just go play an FPS game instead.

player skill is not just button mashing, it's building your character too (same as training in the real world) and acquiring the gear (no different than having a supply chain and logistics in the real world).

PvP is an adjunct here, not the main focus.

true, but people like to PvP and the whole "pay 2 win" argument usually revolve around PvP since a person can buy BoE gear and join in PvP (some can pick up the game and get pattern quickly and win with bought gear)

So I figure maybe if we remove the "bought gear" for PvP, it is less "pay 2 win" argument.

(note: I'm more of pay for convenience, but some disagree with me)

That is why when you make a PvP character, you can still choose your skill (max points available) and choose your gear. the big difference that everyone has access to the same level gear.

I may make my DC more defensive vs another player make their DC a little more offensive (just random example)

Part of PvP is being able to out think your enemy, and that includes trying to work around his advantages and disadvantages (I.E. Gear, 1 shots, etc). Not to mention, gear isn't the game winner in this game, a sh**ty GWF with great gear will still lose to a poorly geared, but pro GWF.

More importantly this idea while totally fair will stop PWE making money from those people who buy the best gear/enchants so that they can show their superior skill in PvP.......

So sadly never going to happen in a F2P game....

I find that wards/mounts do sway PvP quite a bit. Id like to see mounts equalized in pvp and PvP be put into tiers, just like our gear is. t1 for t1 and less, t2 and less, t3 and less. An undergeared team really has no chance against a geared team.

What would prevent a PVP'er from gear swapping as soon as they loaded in?

Best solution for PvP - remove the AD daily and XP and only reward earned glory!

All the bots & AFKs will leave with no rewards to be had!
