Yup! Typically, MMOs force you to bind the item to your character so you cannot trade/sell it to another player. This is meant to make acquiring gear a bit more of a challenge since you could hypothetically win that epic loot roll, get awesome stats from the new piece of gear, win something better at a later time AND profit off the selling of your old item. It also prevents gold farmers to be able to become item farmers too (by hacking your account, taking your gold, unbinding your gear, and taking your gear). I'm sure there are other reasons its done this way, but its relatively staple in most MMOs to bind things to character/account.
