I've decided I'm going to use Steam to manage my games, now that I've chosen to get back into PC gaming a little more.

will NW be on Steam sometime soon?

well PWE is starting their own game management site. Think ITs called ARC

since the other two cryptic games are on Steam, this one should be

With PWE developing their own, I would see it more likely they will take the other two off instead of adding Neverwinter.

I heard about the other one, and I don't understand why. They can barely make this game functional let alone something more complex.

All 3 games have there own launcher/patcher anyway, so does it matter that much ?

I hope they don't. Cause I wouldn't touch Steam with a ten foot pole (this goes for ARC as well). So I'm quite happy with the way things are right now.

Open steam, click on library, click on Add a Game near the bottom. Add non-steam game then search for Neverwinter.

All the benefits of Steam without the wait.
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.

    LOL

I download Steam and my Internet Browser now hardly opens - I sometimes start up Planeside 2 and click on their topics in the start up menu because this Internet Explorer always opens - So I blame steam for this.

    THEN

I Download the new gateway storage thingy for Perfect World Games called ARC - and presto my Internet Explorer opens now without a hitch.

So either way these sort of programmes do affect things like IE.

    (See it was ^&$(*@#$ STEAM)

I have also hated Steam for years because I have lost codes, passwords etc... and sometimes after emailing for resets etc.. well a couple of times I have not received and email back - what that means is - my hard earned money gone (I suspect they wont me to re-download and pay again - those rascally criminals)

So from now on only games I use via steam are the free ones.

Also I am pretty sure that Perfect World would have to pay Steam to manage their downloads -NO NO NO Steam can go and shove it.

Oh I hope not. The last thing this community needs are more people that will play the game for a week then leave!

Steam would be akin to extending the launch crowd time-frame, indefinitely.

What I mainly receive are requests to join guilds that are filled and filling with those who enjoy playing an honest game.

These are not signs of a mass exodus, but a sign of the growth of the playerbase who will remain in the game long past the launch period... who are by and large honest players.

    Make your mind up... lol

Is the playerbase growing or leaving after a week?

I actually like Steam and it has become my number one way to learn about new and upcoming games. It is not the most optimized piece of software, and I am not entirely sure how I feel about the quasi-monopoly, but overall it is convenient and I find it useful, though I do spend more money on games than I would without it. :)

Having NW in Steam's F2P category would no doubt lead to increased exposure and for plenty of folks it might be the first time they hear about the game. There is also the snowball effect of Steam users seeing what their friends play and then trying it out, too. Heaven knows that is one of the reasons why I have a huge backlog.

Ditch internet explorer, get a better browser like firefox. Never had any issues with it together with steam.

People leave because they try out a game for a week but dont like it, not because its on steam....

I really shouldn't respond to this idiocy, but I will just because.

    you are an idiot fanboy.

I've been playing the game since Open Beta started. I just wanted to know if it would be on Steam on the 20th, because I would re-download it through Steam, if possible. If it is not on Steam, then I will continue to play it the way I've been playing it. I have both Steam and ARC installed on my machine. if I have to use ARC to manage my PW games, and Steam for everything else, that's fine. But I would like the option to do it all on Steam.

Sorry if that offends your little delicate idiot fanboy feelings.

There is nothing "advert" about anything I posted.

everyone else, thank you for your responses.

I don't see the downside of the game being on Steam, sorry. I think this is a manufactured concern.

yeah, Steam really has nothing to do with it in that regard.

If the game is good, people will stay. If it isn't they won't, regardless of whether its on Steam, Origin, ARC, or whatever.

It'll get a lot more exposure on Steam though.

Didn't someone already tell you that you can add any non-Steam game to Steam anyway?

will I get the overlay and such as well if I do that?

Also I am pretty sure that Perfect World would have to pay Steam to manage their downloads -NO NO NO Steam can go and shove it.

For that first part, I think I'd blame IE... Go get Firefox or even Chrome and have a better time period.

It's your fault you can't remember passwords, if you really have a tough time and can't even remember the password to the email account you registered the game, maybe you should have a notebook locked away somewhere that has them written down. Odds are if it's locked in a safe, you're not going to loose the key to said safe, if you do, you have more things to worry about.

Steam saves all keycodes on your steam account so that you can view them any time you want, you just have to look for them, that is of course if you have only one steam account and also remember the email you registered the other game with, then it gets complicated. Steam being under one email, login for the game is under another email that you forgot about... Steam is usually very rigid about getting refunds for items as well as handing out extra key codes that are still viewable in your account. You have your key code, they know you can see it(they don't know if you've used it) and most steam games that still use key codes are typically games that have their own launchers like MMOs(Defiance comes to mind, or Far Cry 3 for single player game) and asking for another key code is tantamount to asking them for a free copy of said game.

Lastly, Steam typically has discounts for games... even a week after they're released. You can expect games on steam to drop in price over time, or even go on sale and get it for dirt cheap(I got Saints Row 3 for 5$ last year), not every site does that. Especially anything related to games for windows. You'll likely be paying full retail price 10 years after it's released on those things.

Is Steam the be all and end all good thing to PC gaming? Not by a long shot, but it's still better than a lot of things out there.

You do get the overlay but not the additional news or tracking how long you've been playing it.
