It takes quite some time to level up a craft, so even though both is wise, I'd advice to go with focusing on one first. That said I don't know how worthwhile leatherworking is at 60, while leveling only the pants and shirts are useful. Leadership has the up-/downside (depending on your preference) that it also gives you experience so you will outlevel content faster.
Personally I go with crafting before leadership on characters I intent to keep and leadership on temp alts for some extra AD income.
It's worth it to level both, but how you level leadership depends on what you're after. If you're after AD, there are basically only 2 or 3 tasks which make sense since they give AD and experience. You just have to grind it out. If you want to level faster, there are other tasks you can do that will give more experience but no AD. Other professions are purely for stuff that can sell for decent AD on the auction house but not much of it is actually useful in-game.

Level Leadership to 20 to open the slot. Then working on your crafting. Your goal should be to open profession slots as fast as possible by getting ONE profession (leadership) to 20. Leveling a crafting profession will only slow your Leadership progress down. Remember, ONE profession to 20, then THREE professions to 20 to efficiently open your slots.
What i suggest is to level your crafting while you play with the 10-15-25-40 min job. And when your about to logoff for several hours, because i assume you work, go to school and/or sleep, you queue the leadership job of 4-6-8-12 hours. Works great for me that way, i still put more emphasis on leadership, asset are cheaper, easier to meet the requirements and i feel it's more rewarding especially for a first character, since it's an easy source of AD income and money.
