Is there a trick to keep it up? sometimes it will disappear in less than 2 seconds other times it will be up for 7+. anyone know?
oh and anyone got any suggestions for chartilifax in lair of the mad dragon? This **** is insane! Uber buff elites spawning every where, you can't really tank the dragon or adds. AOE hits whole room so..

Do not get hit while not guarding.
Mark disappears as soon as you get hit, unless you guard that hit.

If that's the case, then we should be able to mark while guarding. Especially if its multiple mobs...against one or two, sure, you can time their hits so you come out of Guard, mark, then go back in, but more can be extremely difficult, if not impossible. I really think they need to allow Marking at least while Guarding.

I didn't say it was well made, but that's the way it works right now.
There'r plenty of people hating on it, but until they change the way it works it's what we have to work with.
There are ways to make good use of it even now though. (Best one being threatening rush into black-holed mobs)

High deflection will give you a chance to keep it on... if your lucky.

First and foremost, stop trying to play a passive (block stuff) *tank*. Be aggressive. I keep threat pretty well. I took the conquerer path like most GF's at this point. Frontline surge/lunging strike into pack of mobs/MARK!/gulp a pot, ya need it just then. Block a sec and position yourself to not be surrounded and then threatening rush followed by some OP cleaves. Rinse and repeat and you should hold threat fairly well.
As for tanking the dragon. It's a lil stressful. Load up Bullrush/kneebreaker/lungung strike. At wills cleave/tide of iron.
To start Tank runs left, group runs right. No one touches the dragon except the tank till it's positioned in the corner. Keep the dragon facing you in the corner but be aware you need to move back and forth avoiding his breath attacks and acid DOT circles.
Lunging strike/tide of iron/kneebreaker/bullrush move around, rinse and repeat. The fight is a marathon not a sprint.
