Are you doing a Foundry instance? Because it seems that they sometimes need time to patch it in, making the loading screen pause for extended periods of time until its completed.

Did you disable on demand patching (login screen - options?). If not then it could be the following.

Even if you're not doing foundry, if that one character is in an area with an outstanding patch or game content (say a higher level area than your other characters) that would explain it.

There's around 2 GIG of content that gets loaded if you fully patch/load content. Much of that is NOT going to be Protectors Enclave or the next couple of areas.

I've got the same thing with my Guardian (2 days now).

I have 3 toons, all within Protector's Enclave. My Rogue was at the mounts outside of the Seven Suns Market, log in with no probs. The Wizard was at the Bank steps, also log in with no probs. But I just can't log in my Guardian that i know I logged out at the Shrine of the Gods. All 3 are on the same server.

I also have this issue. My CW at the invoking area logs in fine, my GF in the auction area cannot load. I moved my wizard to the auction area and relogged, but was able to do so just fine. So, there's something wrong with the character.

Common trend: All of the people in this thread with problems are having them with Guardians.

edit: nevermind I'm dumb. If the loading takes too long, for whatever reason, it won't automatically dump you into the game. You get a "press any key" notice at the top of the screen. Still doesn't explain why it sits there for five or more minutes to load my Guardian, when my CW loads almost instantly.

I have this issue right now, never resolved yet.. I stuck once yesterday i played, now today getting worse after i got patched. Because of course my character class is Guardian. I do not logged at auction house yesterday it was broken when they went offline. I guess the one yesterday found out that problem or just today after patches.

Turn down graphics settings with the first two sliders, all the way down to 50%, one is the render scale and forget the name of the other at the moment. The sliders are located under the "Video" tab.

Do this after you've logged in, but before you've selected the character you wish to load. The Options button should be on the lower lefthand side of your screen.

Select the character that's been having the issue and it should load properly, and quickly, but your game will look horrible. once in-game, reset the graphic sliders to your choosing.

Many people have reported that other workarounds such as "Safe Mode" etc. do not work, and I have found the same to be true for me also.

This is the ONLY way I can get my Main level 60 to load into Protector's Enclave when first loading the game.

Hopefully this works for you too!!

Also having the same problem, I tried the graphics fix but after about ten minutes of sitting at the patching screen I don't think it's going to work.
