Bug: Gameplay: Cannot see players in same instance, and more

Hi All,

In game, I can't see or interact with certain players (non ignored, etc). I try to invite them to my group and it says Invite error (no details). When I go to send mail it just goes off into the void. No response, and the other player does not get it.

Changing instances, rezoning, and reclogging do not help. I can add these people to my friends list and send tells, but nothing else.

I would say this is a big and bad problem.

If you can't see the players I assume either you are in a different instance or even on a different server. If you are sure that is not the case with servers, you can try inviting them by typing /invite @name (so type in their @name)

Yeah, made sure we are both in the same instance and close to each other. And I did /invite name@handle and /invite @handle to no avail. Sent help tickets up and submitted bug reports, but can't view the support site, so I can't check on them.

I was thinking the friend had been anonymous, or had some block on me (and the block isn't fully working, allowing tells), but they said no changes there, let alone didn't know how to outside of /ignore.

Did you found solution to this ? I have same problem with my friend, i cant invite him and he cant invite me in party. What i noticed is that on friend list his online green icon is smaller and darker, and it say "your friend is playing neverwinter" but other friends have "Friend is Online" he made new account and problem dont exist.

No solution yet. I have bug tickets open on it and have emailed and PM'd about it. Hopefully a response comes soon. I am sure this causes more problems if it is not fixed before they switch hardware for live.

common problem to that is they are not on the same server.. when you start the game you get a choice at the start from 3 (Beholder-Dragon-Mindflayer) that is the 3 servers and if not on the same you cannot see one and another or send messages or any thing. this sounds like that problem to me as i had the same error but figged it out to be the server

Did you ever find a fix to this? Were you two on a different server? Interested about this.

    What is a Shard?

A shard is a copy of the game world that has its own unique set of characters and guilds. You may team up and play with other characters on the same shard, but not with characters on other shards. Many MMOs have the concept of a shard, and there are several different terms in use for the same concept including Server, World and Realm.

    Will Neverwinter have shards?

Yes, Neverwinter will have three shards at launch. The shards will be named:
    • Beholder
    • Dragon
    • Mindflayer

Can I team up and play with people who are on different shards?

No, you may only team up and play with characters on the same shard.

How does the Auction House work with shards?

Each shard has its own auction house. You will not be able to trade items between characters on different shards.

So far I am sure we are on the same shard/server. I am verifying this today.

Yuup, they aren't on dragon. LOL Can close this topic. Man, I thought I had a good one!

I'd have to say the same I experienced this before, I was on dragon and my friends were on beholder, we could add tell, but not party or see each other in the map instances on any map, so now I just run on beholder as do all my friends to eliminate this issues.

I have the same exact problem... & I just checked to see if my friends and I were on different servers. Turns out that we're all on Beholder. In addition, I'm unable to move to their instance when I right click their name on the friends list (that option isn't available for me). Anyone have a solution?
