I tried with full gears/pet and with no gears except orb/no pet and i was always gaining the same AP% back on dummies. Can anyone try this because i'm sure i'm doing something wrong there it's impossible.
From what I can tell, AP gain is based on damage done. CW damage is based mostly on Weapon Damage, removing all your gear (3000+ power) will hardly dent your damage, maybe 15%, probably closer to 10%. And lets say you have 40% more AP gain on your gear too.
So you do 1 damage with no gear, and 1.15 damage with gear. Your 1.15 is multiplied by 1.4, giving you 1.61 AP multiplier.
The AP bar goes in 1% increases IIRC, meaning that there are a significant number of damage ranges where you will not see an increase in AP from using the same spell with gear and not. For example:
Lets say 1000 damage is 1% AP, and you deal 800 damage, giving you 0.8% AP, which the game rounds to 1% to display. If you instead did 1.62 times that in AP gain (1,288) you would still see 1% displayed on the screen as 1.28% gets rounded down.
