[GWF] Smart rather than strong?

Hey all.

Plenty of folks around here are talking about how useless GWFs are and especially that our at-wills suck majorly. Over all though it does seem like we have some strong encounters in our toolset.

Not sure how many noticed but actually intelligence gives recovery which of course boosts the cooldown of our encounters. That means LESS at-will'ing and MORE encountering!

With that in mind I give you the SMART Great Weapon Fighter. I used a halfling in this example just to show how good a race that can be for a GWF. I will definitely be trying this out! Can't be worse right? :D

Ps. no photoshop was used in the creation of this picture. Here is a link to the full screen shot

I have to assume this to be a troll/major sarcasm thread, but just in case its not.....

Simply put, versus any race with a STR bonus at creation, IE Half Orc, Human, Dwarf, who would be able to start with a STR roll of 20 at level one, you are giving up 10% damage on both encounters as well as At-Wills and Dailies, for 7% recharge speed, only on encounters....

If its not obvious why that idea is bad, I don't know what to say.

(Side Note: No Halfling is not a bad race for ANY class, but in the GWF case it is certainly not "optimal" as you want either STR/CON to be tanky, or STR/DEX for the dps hungry people.)

What you are forgeting TC is those stats give a fixed percentage increase.
    20 strength? = 10% more damage.
    20 dex? = 10% more critical chance.
    20 Inteilligence? = 10% faster skill recovery.

Id favour strength and dex because they apply to every skill, but no doubt in the end any combination of the three is prob as good as eachother.
    GWF lvl 60.
Completed all content waiting for more.
    And class balances.... trololollol.

I can attest that the screenshot is genuine. The GWF does have a CW stat array among its options. Should have filed it as a bug, but I'm too lazy.

Yes indeed. I was trying to make a joke / funny bug report but it didn't really catch on as well as I had hoped. :) Back to the drawing board.

There's nothing wrong with Halfling GWF.

It's pretty efficient for hybrid stats.
