edited May 2013 in The Foundry
I really want to do a Cryptic Publish today but I know there are still spelling issues left hiding somewhere and I don't know how to fix them even if i could find them. If you also have a foundry quest I'll play it and leave a review for it if you can help me out.

I don't have the time to play your quest right now (or this weekend at all), but I can offer helpful advice in the form of a quote from Terry Pratchett's "Eric":
"Multiple exclamation marks," he went on, shaking his head, "are a sure sign of a diseased mind."

In other words, don't use multiple exclamation marks. In fact, as an exercise in writing, try not using any exclamation marks. Your writing is likely to get better. :)

(I don't know if you did the same thing in your quest as with the title of this thread, so I don't know how helpful this actually is)

I'm working for the next couple of days, so I can't hop in-game easily, but if you send me a forum PM with all your dialogue or a text file/word doc, I'll send you back all the edits so you can just copy-paste them in.

Actully I copied all my dialog awhile back into inklewriter, If I don't get any help by the end of the day I'll update it then give you access to my account so you can directly change what ever.

I will try to get to this today, as well. Do like anan suggested and PM me your script, too. Never hurts to have multiple eyes on something. I am an English major (who is also in an editing class atm) if that helps at all.

I took a quick look. Lots of spelling and grammar issues in the first 3 or 4 lines. I'm at work right now, so I can't write you a full report, but I'll take another look either tonight or this weekend.

Also it looks good that at the end of dome statements there is no punctuation to make it seem like lifelike chatter.

Not to be a pain, but is there a way to edit via this method? Could you possibly put the dialogue into a word file and then put in in dropbox? I could edit for you there, and you could see what I was talking about. If not, it's cool, but it will be hard to offer you specific feedback if I am having to go through every quest line and try to find a way to communicate where an issue is. If I am missing some detail in inklestudios, just let me know :)

    Part 3: Cleric is misspelled.
Part 4: “within a fortnight” is awkward phrasing. “a fortnight ago” might be better?
Part 4: “belongings” does not require an apostrophe.
Part 4: Unless “Undead Attack” is a proper noun, it should not be capitalized.
Part 7: Probably should be a comma after Sherlock. “Begs for the assistance” is awkward. Not sure what you’re trying to get across there. Perhaps, “He beckons plaintively”, or something similar?
Part 9: Okay should not ever be shortened to “Ok”. This sentence is probably better off as “Okay, you have questions?”
Part 10: Consulting Detective is not a proper noun and should not be capitalized. It should be followed by a comma.
Part 11: “Assistant” and “In” should not be capitalized. “and yet here you are” is probably better.
Part 12: Comma after name, “Let’s” should not be capitalized.
    Map Two
Part 2 (Response) Okay shouldn’t be shortened.
Part 3: Inconsistent use of numbers. Type them all out if they’re single digits. Rephrase?: “I remember seeing you earlier. So you are…”
Part4 (response) “I see, who is the fourth person missing?” Switch last two words.

Part 5: Last sentence, comma between “see” and “one”.

Part 8: “Most” should not be capitalized.

I'll poke at it more, but Inklewriter is awkward, particularly where there are multiple choices to make.

Thanks anavillhurtz, yeah inklewriter is sort of a pain to use also, I have spent the past 30 minutes doing updates to it just to have them not even save, I have to double check every single edit i make on it now just to make sure it keeps it, I added all the changes you posted to the quest and ink, I'll keep my figures crossed I didn't miss something.'

As for plaintively that didn't seem like the right word or emotion I'm trying to portray, Sherlock has a superior complex attitude aimed at all the guards so even knowing he wants to do this mystery hull heatedly he can't show it to them. So I changed beg to Implore.

I updated the Examination part so you can view all the dialog, it was weird before since I never setup the dialog for people to read it off there site.

Currently there is no way that I can think of without you having my login info, With all the help coming in its easier to use ink as a reference since I have been updating it the second someone sends me info on the dialog.

Maybe try going threw the entire story then copy paste all the dialog into any word processor you desire.

It is always good to have someone to proof your work. You should never proof your own work. Before you have them do that though, follow the instructions below.

    Menu--->options
    > Video options
    >windowed mode

    Open Microsoft word

Open dialog you wish to check and drop cursor in it.

    Ctrl+A to select all dialog
    Ctrl+C to copy all dialog
Go to windows and drop cursor in a new document.
    Ctrl+z to paste your dialog

Click review tab at top of screen then click spelling and grammar check on left top of screen.

    Correct all errors.

Read your dialog out loud. If it still sounds good out loud, all spelling and grammar are correct.

    Ctrl+A to select all
    Ctrl+C to copy all

Go back into foundry. Make sure your old dialog is selected, if not ctrl+a to select it, then ctrl+Z to paste your edited dialog.

It seems like a lot to do, but after you have done it a few times, you will zip through editing your work.

Like I said before, don't proof your own work, but do the above steps. Then have someone read it to catch all the things spell check missed.
