There are a lot of different ppl that either want or dont want char wipes and blah blah. I think the solution is simple. Open a new server where zen from your other server does not transfer. Then those ppl that want a clean unexploited server can have it. Ppls account unlocks and founders packs still work but you cant transfer over 1,000,000 zen like many of the exploiters have managed to rack up.
a nice clean start for those that want it. and those that like being on a completely exploited server with a wrecked economy can have it.

I actually like this idea myself. A clean server with no zen transfer.
oh yeah let's open a server for the 100-150 guys that might want to do that.
Obviously never going to happen.
ps: the game is already live, it's not a beta. That word actually meant something back in the days before devs just wanted to hide behind it to make money of unpolished games.
I'd have to level my 60 rogue again, which I did level legit unlike exploiters.
The problem is the lack of punishment or rollback of these cheats.

The problem is there are actually hundreds of servers already. They are simply arrayed in a Single Server Architecture which we call shards.
(Fragments of a whole)
In time there won't be multiple shards to play on. The multiple shards are a temporary feature to handle the launch load. They will be merged into one server system at some point in the future. It's an idea that might work in other MMO's which use multiple single servers but that's not how Cryptic designs their games.

A lot of the new people joining would probably rather start on a server where everyone has a fresh start rather than a bunch of high-levels already established from day one. The people wanting to keep their existing character and gains get to play amongst themselves, the people wanting a fresh start get to have it, and the new joiners get to pick which group they join.
Only downside is, how many severs are they going to actually have? Weren't they going to merge everything?

Its a beta according to the agreement I made to take part.
I'm sure that if you would prefer to be playing live, you can define "beta" in such a way that by your personal definition, you are playing live.

Oh the irony.

it's not a beta, it's a released game with some bugs. Beta used to actually mean something back in the days you know.
You should check it instead of being so naive.
Since they intend to have all shards merged such that there is only one visible server you play on, this would be a temporary 'solution' at best. Still, I'm not opposed to the idea, as unlikely as it is to happen.
I've been down this road before, it never ends well. I'm surprised Abmi didn't just close this thread...
Anyways like he says, PWE are set in their ways. They will use their mega-server architecture whether we like it or not. And there can't be a wipe because then you'll get the founders/exploiters/people who invested tons of hours already that would brew up a sh;tstorm.
I'm all for a new server as well, but it wont happen, unfortunately.

I got to hand it to them. Using beta as a shield is a good strategy: now whatever goes wrong can be blamed on beta status. When they feel ready then they "go live" and claim the most successfull launch etc.
I personally dont want more then one server and the big old sophism about mmo economy is laughable imo.

Cryptic plans to merge all of the servers after Neverwinter launch so this solution would be a temporary one at best...

First time beta testing a game? You may want to avoid it in the future and stick with released products.
No wipe = no beta. They are not refunding Zen purchases and no more wipes so this is not a test regardless of what the marketing department tells you. That is all.
p.s. The fact it PLAYS like a test, well that is an entirely different problem.
This is not a beta, at least in the traditional sense.
I have beta tested many software products from games to business titles. You generally have access to every aspect of the title, limited developer tools and a proper bug reporting tool. You also do not have to spend 1 cent to see everything the title has to offer.
Tell me, how can PW/Cryptic honestly call us "beta testers" when half the content costs money to even see? (by content I mean everything, even dyes, items, etc.) How can we bug report these things? Are we supposed to pay them for the privilege of testing their game for them?
If I could transfer my level 60 character with professions and gear and bank, just no Zen (which I don't have anyways), yeah, I'd go there, in a heartbeat
