I've always disliked the fact that the story in MMORPG often needs to be ignored (or cleverly twisted) if the player wants to maintain a Role-playing consistency. (Ex. Everyone is simultaneously 'the' hero. Or that you join a party to defeat the same villain you already defeated) Also lackluster is the fact that multiplayer gameplay tend to be limited to killing and grinding for loot, so opportunity to actually play the game while RPing is limited.
Foundry system gives us ample tools to create quests with setting and premise that are RP-friendly. It also gives us ability to create more variety in gameplay. That's what I will attempt to do and I think I'm not the only one who has the same idea. So I'm making a thread so everyone who is doing this or has any ideas to contribute can post here!
To start off, I'll plug my quests here.
I have published
"Fantastic Good Race" which is a racing/jumping quest that allows players to race each other for trophies! Feel free to leave your armor at home for this one.
My second (unpublished) quest in the pipeline will be more elaborate, though equally experimental. "The Shimmering Myst" is an exclusive lounge featuring multiple scenic areas and offer complete privacy for you and your party/guild. When/if advanced scripting become available, I also have a bunch of neat RP minigames planned. The tricky part, though, is how you gain access to the lounge. The Gatekeeper will asks you a series of questions, and the answers to all the questions can be found in the "Maze of Mysteries." The Maze is no simple dungeon crawl. It will heavily utilize character traits and skills, so that while anyone can complete the dungeon for in-game rewards, you will not find all the clues to Gatekeeper's questions. The clues that a solo rogue finds will be different from the ones that a party of guardian and priest will find. Sharing and trading clues between guildies and friends will be expected. Though I'm hoping that since the lounge offers no power-gaming incentives, the passcodes will not become too easily acquired OOC.
That's all from me. Your turn to say something.

Until xp is normalized in Foundry missions, I'll not run one.
Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.
XP and character levels are of little importance for RP. It's the gameplay and social experience that truly matters at the end of the day. This is especially true when the gameplay doesn't involve combat. :P
Occam's Razor makes the cutting clean.
Aahhh the world we live in, it always surprises me :rolleyes:
I want this class in NW.
Elocin - Renegade Drow - 39 Devoted Cleric of Selune - Mindflayer
Looking for some Dust of Forum Troll Disappearance ? Sprinkle this on any troll to phase shift them out of your plane of existence.
I used the foundry to create a home for my player. Given that he is a Tiefling of royal heritage, there are some exciting things to see around there too. Sadly, it's not just the area, but there has to be a quest too. Currently it's an acceptable one (explore the living room, see the dining room etc.), but I'm looking to make it even less intrusive.
This quest is not to be played by anyone though. My character, Vicgold Coilbone, will occasionally invite people he has met to his house. If you'd like to see it, I'll tell you that he is a frequent visitor of the Moonstone Mask.
This is one of the reason Foundry can make this the best MMO for RPing ever. Someone should make a collection for the best tutorials to help players do this.
Also how are you making your home private (so that only you and your trustee can enter)? I had this idea with the dialogue system:
Let's say that your passcode is 1314.
So the dialogue flow would be
"Enter Passcode" Screen 1 -> "1"
-> "Enter Passcode" Screen 2 -> "3"
-> "Enter Passcode" Screen 3 -> "1"
-> "Enter Passcode" Screen 4 -> "4"
-> Grant Access.
The trick is what every dialogue screen look identical, and when a wrong digit is entered, it goes to a failure dialogue branch that also look identical and loop onto itself infinitely. (user can always hit esc to quit).
So the flow would look like this:
"Enter Passcode" Screen 1 -> "2" (wrong)
-> "Enter Passcode" Failure Screen -> any choice

It's very easy to implement and should be more than enough deterrence for snoopers.
I'm surprised that there aren't more authors chiming in. :X
