Wrong Currency in the Auction House

STO (Star Trek Online, another PWE game) gets this right: its version of gold is used in the Auction House, not its version of Astral Diamonds. Switch the Auction House over to use Gold instead and you retain the value of Astral Diamonds (though you will need to add in more AD-only items) AND Gold, in addition to adding an extra layer of security around Zen. Right now, Gold is worthless and AD's are so overly-valued that anyone who found that AD exploit should almost be rewarded for using it.

Seriously. Take the AD's out of the Auction House. Put Gold in. It works so much better all-round.

Why is a bad idea? STO is way better than NW with the AH currency, atleast in my oppinion.

I'm glad someone else agrees with me. This really does need to be fixed quickly.

that was a risky venture on NWN part. I guess they are trying to see if AH + BoE Epic was a good match. I don't think it is because it creates a whole new breed of people.

Please review my campaign and I'll return the favor.

It makes the game easy. I dinged 60, already had 3 gladiator items, bought the rest for ADs and POP, 9.2k GS. Epic dungeons are not as epic as they should be (especially with the exploits and glitches everyone seems to be using these days). In general the entire content becomes EAAAASYYYY. It's like farmville (heaven't played, I just heard you can't loose :)).

I don't mind them trying new things. However, it very obviously doesn't work as-is. I recommend going "back" to the STO model but it definitely needs a fix of some sort.

By having AD be the AH currency, they are 'strongly encouraging' players to buy Zen to convert to AD for purchases. Just one possible reasoning behind it. Of course, the beer I just drank may be influencing my thinking process at the moment... LOL

Beer probably influenced their thinking processes when they came up with the idea.

They have the best MMO economic system ever imagined in STO that also provides them a steady stream of revenue, and instead of realizing what they have and appreciating it, they screw with it for immediate gratification: if that isn't the thinking of drunks, I don't know what is.

Actually gold has a lot of value, increasingly more now that the AH is down and more and more people hit level 60. People are starting to value consumable spending as they end up all quest-chains and the revenue obtained through grinding is much lower.

AD by comparison has a much more lower value as it's much more easier to obtain. But it can be traded for Zen, unlike gold, so it stays like an important currency.

People are trading T2s for gold. Gear isn't as valuable as it used to be because people keep farming it over and over. Soon people will stop buying gear for AD and pick it for gold instead. I predict a strong deflation of AH market prices, AD only being useful to speed tasks, convenience and Zen.

    - Lady Rowanne Firehair, Heartwarder of Sune (Lvl 33 DC)
    - Satella, Sensate (LvL 44 CW, Renegade, Non-Active)

Wouldn't it be interesting if they made the swap right now that AH is offline?
What a better opportunity to see how it'd work?

After all, it is a beta as they say...
Availiable for hire for T1/T2 DD at Mindflayer (european gmts):
    Gaurwulf - GF, hybrid tank/dps, GS 12.5k

Thank you for agreeing with me (even though you think you disagree). Yes, gold is finally starting to have value because the AH is down and people are trading items in gold instead of AD's. Like I said, this works so much better.

It won't change. It's core to Neverwinter's revenue model, because it effectively places everything in the game in the cash-shop.
