Please explain what happened in the AH

I have heard a lot of hate around an exploit in the AH. I have read a few posts and I can not get a fix on what happened.

Could someone explain please?

I am sure others would be interested as well.

    People could use the "gateway" website to access the auction house and place bids while outside the game client. There they could place bid for negative amounts of Astral Diamonds. When the auction ended their bid was turned positive and added to their wallet.

    This infinite money destroyed the game's economy.

    PW messed up another one of their MMO's and pocketed ALOT of cash in the meanwhile.

    I honestly blame my wife she was playing DDO earlier and looted a True Law weapon of Chaos and well Neverwinter has seemed to implode because of it.

    On topic Frodin is exactly correct.
