Changing Tier sets to BoP (discussion)

Hey folks.

From now running t2 farm for longer time, Some of the main issues i see with tier sets being BoE (Binds on Equip) is:

- Making non tier pieces mostly useless, as the tier 4 bonuses is just to great to skip

- Market getting flooded with t2 pieces making the economy take a major hit (example timeless pieces for 1 mill+ AD per piece, so easy way to get rich legit without exploit)

- People can pay to get the best tier pieces from AH, making people "pay2win" (not a real pay2win situation, but an issue for the longelivity of the game).

Idea by changing ONLY set pieces to Bind on Pickup, would make selling non tier pieces on AH more suffecient, plus actually using non tier pieces till you have farmed the whole set (as you cant just buy a ton of AD and go on AH to get it), and you will force your players to actually play the game to get best in slot pieces.

People will still be buying zen (to exchange to AD) to get the best rings, belts, weapons etc etc. but you will force your players to play your game to be the best geared.

Would love to know Developers response on this , and also other players.

The problem is, when you want a specific tier item from a dungeon, not only does the item have to be for your class, but also the exact piece that you need. This might not be that huge of a problem right now but as more classes are included in the game the chances of the set piece that you want to drop becomes extremely low.
However, the chest drops could be BoP.

true that the drop can be the "not best in slot" drop, but remember you can run the dungeon as many times as you want. there is no dungeon lock, so right now you can farm it as many times as you want till you get the correct drop.

If a tier item drops which definitely isn't certain, you have a 1/15 chance that it is the item you want right now and it will be a lot less in the future with added classes. Remember that these are drops from epic 5 man dungeons, when Gauntlgrym etc starts popping up and we get content intended for more than 5 man parties these drops will be much less attractive.

compare this to other mmos which has more classes, more sets and no dungeon delve chests. your chance even with increased amount of players + increased amount of chars, is higher than the usual chance to get a correct tier piece drop.

just to compare to the easiest one right now (WoW)

    - 11 classes with 3 sets vs 5 classes with 3 sets

    - No dungeon delve chest

Your chance to get your drop is pretty high compared to competitors, and hence farming for certain pieces who are worth a great dime is a really strong way to earn millions of AD (allready "abusing" it legally)

I'm confused, I farmed my full swashbucklers set, and have done castle never to get all best in slot items minus my daggers. Now I run t2 epics and farm the dd chests/item drops/seals to sell and make a lot of AD...whats the problem with that?

idea lies in making the game has stronger longlevity, as per now non tier armor/head/arms/feet is useless drops, and at the same time it makes the auction house into a d3 situation of buying a BiS item, without playing the game. Closing the set pieces to be bind on pickup, you will make non set pieces actually be worth extra on the AH , and force people to go the dungeons to get their sets, instead of just buying zen into AD to get full sets.

and yes im farming the t2 pieces and sell them too, but find it rather awkward to have a economy system built around people who will pay to get Best in Slot.

EDIT: this will not stop the good AD get from AH control rings belts and neck etc, hence farming those pieces to earn a good dime is still valid.
