How do I make it so a npc in dialogue will use the players name? I've seen it done in foundry before.

I don't have access to the game with this computer, but there are 2 boxes you can click when you're editing dialog. One is "out of character" which creates a [ooc] and [/ooc] set of commands for you to type some DM text in a different color. The other box creates a [name] command that just inserts that persons name into the dialog at that location. When you play test it, that shows up as "author," but once it's published it shows up as the players name.

Also I invented the [name] command. I think it's labelled something else but I can't remember what because I can't go into the game. You'll find it easily on the dialog creation window.

Also, the player can't say their own name, only npcs can say the player name. You have to work around it.
npc: : "Tell me your name"
pc : Tell the npc your name.
npc : "Hi Joe the Destroyer!"

Well, you click that nickname button and it puts the command wherever your cursor is in the dialogue.

I believe if you manually typed :

    [nickname]

that would work as well. If you click the nickname button, you'll see:

    [nickname]

    appear in your dialogue.
