Kind of new to the game, played a GWF but then realized that none of my friends rolled a cleric. Thought I would hate it but ended up loving it, and I find myself reading through these forums every day (while at work -sigh).
So... not fully understanding how the augment companions work, how do you equip them (as in, what do you put in the slots)? I have the Ion stone.
Put the stats you want for your char? It's not really complicated, the companion is basically more equipment slots for you. The one thing you want though is the runestone that gives % more stats from pet.

This is what I dont understand. On an augment companion, arent all of the stats going directly to the user? If so, why would you need the runestone that gives % of the stats to the user?

My understanding is that it gives a larger percentage of the stats to your character. 108.5% for example.

Basically this.
What actually happens is your augment companion gives you a buff (Ion stone looks like a scroll) for 100% of the stats it has (base stats, gear, runestones, enchants on gear).
Then the Eldritch Runestone gives a second buff (called Augment or something) for X% of those same stats (8.5% for a rank 7, 9% for a rank 8, don't know rank 9 and 10, not really worth finding out).
The Eldritch stone extra stats will NOT show on the companion page since it is a separate buff, but if you check your stats on the character panel do go up by 108.5% (or w/e) of the companions stats when you summon the companion and both buffs kick in (takes a second or two sometimes).
As others said, just treat it as more gear slots. Nothing really special to consider except that you don't get your companion in PvP (if that matters to you).

Do we need to place the runestone that says that gives the companion stats to the character or we can put any runestone lik power for instance and get that power automatically transfered to our character?
Thanks

Someone explained it like this.. you can put a defensive rune in, that might be giving stats you don't need.. if that is the case, you put that eldritch in there and it gives you about the same value points-wise in offensive stats that you do need (and have used in the other slots.)

Yes, putting a runestone that gives power into an ioun stone will give it to your character.
I recently got my first augment companion on my cleric the other day. I knew they were good, but I wasn't expecting a 100% stat carryover to myself. That was awesome. My only complaint is that it barely modifies my GS. I wish the 1K+ stats I'm getting from my stone would raise my GS accordingly. Yeah, I always have my little orb around my head now. They really are the best companion to have on your main.
edit: oh fiddlesticks. I didn't realize this thread had been necroed.

It does not barely modify the gs, it does not modify the gs at all, but it is a good example why gs is not everything. If you are lfg, just say you have the ioun stone, if you want to join dungeons like the 14000 gs dragon dungeon then sadly it does not help there you will have to grind to 14000 (if you are not there yet that is )

I'm at 15K, just over in fact (like 15,080), but I was hoping to see it jump to 16K when I started using the little blue pixel. heh. I still feel a lot stronger even though that number didn't go up, all my stats did and that's what really matters right?

That makes sense, thanks!
