Hi,

(Yes another wipe thread ... omg)

It appears that a lot of people are throwing out the threads of "there needs to be a wipe", "will there be a wipe" "why a wipe" etc.

Now before early access it was common knowledge and I even remember official comments saying, that once the beta events ended, there would be no more wipes. However; due to the amount of bugs and exploits that have gone around many have gained vasts amount of AD and got pretty much all characters to 60 within a heartbeat.

Now I can understand some concerns for a wipe, but you really need to have your legal and PR team look over this as well. This is mainly due to a promise being broken and one of the reasons for buying the founder packs now being pretty much stripped from those people. This would result within the United States a possible class action lawsuit and not to mentioned a lot of refund requests, which would be denied by Perfect World, but then it would result in a lot of people doing charge backs and I will even walk people through the process of doing those charge backs to get their money back, but people who want to do that, be aware your account can and will be banned.

Anyway, seeing as the customer support/moderators/development staff are staying away from this topic with a 10 foot pole, means they are probably thinking about it.

But I would really recommend that if you do decide to wipe, that you better offer those founders and zen buyers the chance to get a refund because it will just make things for Perfect World/Cryptic a whole lot worse than a few hundred people exploiting to get some ingame currency and a few more level 60.

Thanks,
Doowie

Shouldn't you have posted this in one of those threads?

because white knights always make these topics to get attention and proclaim their moral superiority to their "enemies".

Even if this accounts got banned then why should people care if they can just make new account and invest again same money(refunded ones)?

I dont care if they do a rollback or wipe to be honest.

At least give me the option of having the 260 dollars from my founders packs and my zen purchases credited back to my paypal. Just giving me back my zen tied to my PW account wont cut it. Theres evidence that they have done this before (refunding players). If they do a rollback, at least be gracious enough to allow disgruntled players to simply get their money back and opt out of your game.

Because of the very issues you point out (regarding refunds,) there is basically zero chance that there will be a wipe.

Cryptic are never going to wipe, because it will make them look utterly incompetent, and hardly anyone will bother buying Foudner's Packs or ZEN for the 'Open Beta' of any other games they make for a long time.

Wiping would cause enormous short-term issues for them, namely ridicule form many quarters for incompetence not to mention monetary/legal issues.

Whereas If they just do nothing, they will take a massive hit in terms of many people begin very wary of spending any more money in the game, but short-term it would not be as bad for them.

You're ignoring the third option (which is what it sounds like they're pursuing): selective deletion/banning of the exploiters and their mules.

Totally agree with the OP, performing a wipe now would be a PR and financial disaster for them.

The only thing that needs to be wiped is the accounts of the exploiters. When they come plowing onto the forums demanding a refund, quote them the user conduct area of the TOS.

Why not just look at the character logs and see how much Zen people bought, then after the wipe crediting that zen to them?
And it's easy to see who bought Founders in the character logs too

it's not that a wipe is technically difficult - it's not, they did one after Closed Beta. The problem is that by going back on the "no wipes" policy, they're putting themselves in a position where they have to offer refunds or be guilty of fraud.

Founder's paid for a lot of things including early access. To then wipe, you would be removing a feature they paid for, which would result in the majority demanding refunds, which they would be well within their right to do.

Given people who were posting for exploits in general chat and were even caught on posted screenshots exploiting are are still around I really doubt it.

Don't make promises you can't keep. They are not looking into a wipe as far as I know but the only thing I have to contribute to threads like this is padlock and edits.

I know they are not simply going to roll over, that they are actively looking for solutions to the exploits and a reliable means to handle the exploiters themselves. It's not simple and will take some time but the issues aren't being ignored. :)

In the mean time this thread really isn't necessary. You ran on an assumption which I can't promise won't happen but I know has a beyond slim chance of becoming a reality.
