I've been searching all day for a solution to my problem. I have to bad guys guarding an NPC but when I go into view/QA mode the NPC's are beating the HAMSTER out of the poor old man. How do I tell them to guard, not maim my NPC?

You can try putting invisible walls around the npc, with a trigger to remove the walls when the pc reaches a point or when the pc kills the monsters. Hostiles trying to attack npcs is the default, and npcs generate massive aggro with their cowering to the point you can often just kill each mob member individually and they will mostly ignore you killing them.

Well that stinks. Thought about this a bit. I played a foundry quest that was a Conan homage. He used women tied up to stakes. But they weren't npc's they were clickable targets. Any idea how that might work? Seems like they were an object not an NPC. They disappeared after I clicked on them. Thinking I could use that to trigger an npc to appear with dialog options...
