Auto Start Events

This has probably been mentioned or asked before, but I am curious as to if I could do like I would be able to in "RPG Makers" where you'd simply start an "Auto-Event".

For example, in the beginning of my foundry quest I am in the midst of fooling around with, the Hero is sleeping (or let's pretend), and I would like the foundry as soon as you enter to start off with an NPC dialog. Such as you have no choice, the dialog automatically starts without allowing the player to move, or even see their npc.

I've been searching around and I'm getting close to the answer being that you cannot do this. So, I'm basically looking more less for a simple, "yes", or "no" answer here. If it's "no" (which I'm more then likely sure it is), I'll just simply need to re-think how my events portray.

Loving the Editor thus far, but so far, we get nothing that the dev's get, which is akward considering in one of their video's, they go on, and on, about how you have the "Same" tools they have, when clearly we do not.

Anyways, thanks in advance for the answer, or help. Appreciate it.

Yes and no. Yes that you can do some auto-events (smoke and mirrors though, all smoke and mirrors) and no, you can't do specifically what you are wanting to do.
My quest was deleted in July of 2013. There were no issues, it had not violated any rules. Was deemed a bug. That quest is still missing.

Ah, I figured so. Thanks for the response. Suppose their editor isn't as in-depth as actual RPG makers. Thanks again.

You could possibly accomplish something similar by starting with a Fade to Black on the player. That Fade to Black can be a Contact with dialog and will be clickable from just about anywhere. It can then disappear after the dialog is complete, or mid-dialog, if desired.

Basically, you can't force them into a dialog, but you can force them to start/complete the dialog before doing anything else.

You might want to keep your idea in reserve though. The developers have hinted many times that something like this is in the works.

They have also "hinted" at fixing the sound issues...and a number of other issues since Alpha.

What I am saying, don't hold back a great idea hoping Cryptic will implement a better method, they are notorious slow when it comes to the Foundry...despite them saying it is one of the main focuses of Neverwinter.

It could easily be 6 months before we see some sort of trigger based DM dialogue option. Maybe sooner. Who knows, they don't really tell us anything.
