Are you having fun?

To enjoy the game more, rush less. Think while playing: 'This is what I want to be doing'. If you rush, you probably aren't feeling the fun. If you don't feel it....well.

Gaming should feel the opposite of real life. In real life you always feel like you are missing out (not everyone, of course). If we bring that to gaming, we feel the need to rush so we are keeping up with those we assume are getting it all.

'It will all be gone if we don't hurry' is a constant buzz in our brains. So we rush quests, we want the items, we Need/Greed everything.

But what should be there instead: 'I'm actually having fun.' We should remind ourselves in our busy lives that gaming is fun, and that's why we do it. I love it. I'm old and I love it. But I have to remind myself to not rush. That's when I enjoy it.

Lots of threads about what is bad about the game (but nowhere near as bad as some other MMO forums). Most of them see what's not good. See what's good instead. If what's good is not enough, do something else to have fun.

For me and my son, we just love Neverwinter. We play it, we talk about it, we laugh about how hard some bits are and how easy it is when we team up. And we don't pay. I've told him we play this game because it's free. If it was subscription we wouldn't play. We are a family and $30 a month is for alcohol, not for gaming

As a treat we spent $5 each to buy more character slots. That $10 felt good to spend.

Neverwinter is not the best MMO. But it's free and it's fun. But only if you feel it when playing. If you feel you are missing out, rushing, deserve more and are having no fun, you aren't feeling it. Spend your time not playing Neverwinter.

Peace.

ps This thread will go quickly, but I wanted to write it. It felt important to contribute something good and helpful. Some aspects of the game will be improved by forum complaints, so I understand why they are important. But it's hard to read all the hate and apathy. So I don't.

I'm having tons. And bringing friends in by the truckload.

Even with the glitches and issues this is a darn fine game.

Great Weapon Fighter tanks? Who are you kidding? Cleric tanks. They draw -all- the aggro.

. . . . . Every time I am able to log in, which hasn't been much these past few days, I have had more fun in Neverwinter than I have in any other game since my pre-Trammel days.

I'm having a blast, and so is my wife. We both have one slot for solo play, and another for when we play together. We rolled different classes for each character, and couldn't be happier.
Going to be playing this game for a long time. And we will be supporting it with cash to make sure that happens.

I'm also having fun. Haven't come across anything in game that isn't fun (except zone chat in PE). Even those quest lines where I end up getting killed several times until I figure out the right tactics for the end boss or some new mob are fun. The fun there is the challenge of learning from my own mistakes.

Even little things in game are fun to me, or spending some time to read the lore (you never know what's buried in there that might be useful later, or might simply be a good read). Ben playing avidly since the 25th, main character is only about level 43 and I'm in no rush to max out. I pay attention to details, because details make it more immersive for me.

Same here. Me and wifey are loving it here. Considering how much we pay for other games, we are all in here. Finally a genre and game we both love. Went this weekend and got her a proper "gamer rig" for best play and pretty view. :)

    All in baby...all in. :p

I still have screenshots from those days somewhere. Running from Britain to the gate in a deathrobe hoping the PK's would leave me alone thinking I'd just ressed. We'll never see that again, that's for sure.

I'd second the note that Neverwinter is as much fun, it's like the early days of SWG too. I've tried a few others since, but no subscription ones and nothing really held my attention until now, I figure I'll be around a long time too.
