Best companion for low level GWF?

I just hit 16 and can now choose my companion. Any opinions on which companion is the best to help get through these low levels as a GWF?

    cleric companion seems to be popular.

    Cleric to 60, cat or ioun stone for epic dungeons.

    Definitely Cleric for leveling, unless you like chugging potions on a fairly constant basis.

    I agree; just keep in mind that she is very likely to faceplant in any fight with a lot of AOEs being thrown around. She never moves away from them:(

    yeah. Cleric.
    I've just reached 16 (GWF) and I took a Cleric for a companion.
    And my life has never been easy. :D

    I chose the Mage, just because I don't get hit a lot due to Guard. I can easily regain HP with abilities+damage so... I keep aoe taunts on a group of 6+ mobs, and let the mage aoe them while I keep them occupied.

    The cleric companion has been indispensable. I heard at higher level the ioun stone pet is the best (since it cannot be targeted and killed).

    That's awesome but I believe an Ioun Stone pet is quite expensive for a low level GWF.
