Race isn't really all that important since it's more about the gear, but the "best" choice for Trickster Rogue is the Half Orc, with Tiefling a very close alternative (in some scenarios it may be better even). Humans are still solid, too, but that goes for any class.
For the Control Wizard, I think Tiefling is the best, especially for a Renegade build. Humans are close, as always.
I would really recommend to pick a race you like, though. You will look at it for many hours, after all. The difference is really not as huge as it is in other DnD computer games.

Depends on what you want to build your Rogue and Wizard for.
TBH Tiefling is really strong due to the 5% bonus damage vs mobs with 50% or less life <- this is IMO the most powerful racial in game hands down.
H-Orc is better if you get Crit up high to crit often.
In any case the DPS difference is only 4-5% at most (this is at 0% crit for Tiefling and 100% crit for H-Orc assuming only difference is the bonus stats and racials). The rest of the races have far smaller differences in DPS.
Interesting. Good thing I rolled a Tiefling instead of my typical elf mage as I do in every other game/mmo, ha.

Yah, race does not matter a great deal in terms of numerical results. Small, small differences at best. Note that there ARE race specific quests, which may influence your choice ( as well as LOOKING at that race and BEING that race ). Also, although this would not influence my decision much, it's possible for Foundry authors to use your race to influence the course of their adventure.
Often human is the best race from a numbers point of view, as you gain extra feats as the racial bonus, which can be more useful than many other racial bonuses. But, for many, the feel of a character is more important than the numbers.

It's all about preference really. I liked the stats of the Tiefling as a potential Control Wizard but am not a fan of the appearance.
As a PvP-centric Control Wizard focused on Ice/Chill spells, Dwarf was a really solid choice. I actually rerolled to Dwarf from Tiefling, if you can believe it. The resistance to Repel and Knock effects is pretty good, as well as the DoT resistance. And getting two points to CON and WIS out of the gate never hurt anyone, either.
IMO WIS is just as important for an Ice Wizard as INT. And health is always important for PvP, in any game. The Tiefling racials are a bit lacking when it comes to PvP, imo. Doing more damage to things below 50% HP is amazing for PvE, but it is too inconsistent in PvP for my tastes.
I also considered going Halfling, for purely defensive reasons. TBH I would make either a Dwarf or Halfling for almost any class that I was planning to focus on PvP. But I guess a lot of it is personal preference and playstyle.

Humans do gain extra feats, but they also lack +2 to a stat (Humans get a single +2, other races get 2) which can have an impact. But Human is a decent choice for any class.

stats dont matter if you dont have the skills. And to be honest, when you make a group for the endgame content you want to have one of each class. so you cant compete with anyone as the roles are different.
The racials? Negligable at this point. It is a MMO, 60 levels (20 levels expanded x3), what you choose as your race does not matter in the grand scheme of things.
Pick what you want to look like and play what you want. You will be just as good if you play with one race or another. It's all about choice and personalization.

It's all about the racial abilities, not so much the stats. The 3 extra heroic feats of the humans may or may not compensate for the lack of the special racial abilities. Depends on class, the available feat options, playstyle, etc. But yes, humans are never a wrong choice, just not necessarily the mathematically best one. It is usually close (except for TRs, where I feel that HO and Tiefling really are more significantly better than the rest).
I'm only posting here as it seems I can't start a new thread, and this seems the most relevant...
No Halflings?! Really?! I'm just kinda floored that a DnD game has no Halflings...when I can, and always do, play one, or a race very similar, in nearly any other game out there. Please refrain from the "Well go play them then..." comments please as if you take the same amount of time that your witty comment took to come up with (about 0.05 seconds), and invested it in the thought of this being a game based on a DnD setting, then you also might wonder where the option to play a Halfling went.
I may try this game...once the queues settle down, but I'm honestly going to have a hard time giving it a chance when I'm forced to play a BIG folk... If I don't, I will keep an eye on the game for the race to be offered, and if it ever is, I will be back as I'm quite eager to explore the game. Finding something that brings back the feel of DnD would be a welcome change.

You're either smoking crack or haven't done your research properly. Also, you probably can't make a new thread because you're a new user, PWE has certain rules about that.

What are you talking about? Have you tried playing the game yet? Or trying to start drama?

If we can't make halflings I wonder what the hell I've been playing the past 49 levels.
Well HAMSTER...then I will be logging in after all. I was looking at the FAQ on the website...and the Races tab of that FAQ...and saw no Halfling race listed, so silly me...I thought it might be correct.
Thanks for those of you who responded without feeling the need to be an HAMSTER.
I chose a wood elf for my rogue ... since they get 10% resistance to effects that slow their movement and they get an extra 1% added to critical strike. I am building my rogue for PvP.
race matters if you want stealth type TR human is the best race you can max both damage and stealth duration on your t4 feat
but if stealth duration doesnt matter to you H-orc or tiefling for higher damage
and race affects stats rolls too some race cant get the stat that you want str dex for example

Tiefling on everything else.
My wizard is a Half Orc.
