As the title suggests. Have we got any word from community people or devs officially yet on how to get them? Would really like to know how to get them so I know how to go about getting the nightmare horse. I know the rumors about the lockboxes and other speculation. Just wanting official word.
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO ATX LGA1155 Motherboard
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
OS SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 128GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hard Drive & Crucial 256GB SSD x 2
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-biit)
That they come from the Nightmare Lockbox is not speculation or rumor. The lockbox specifically says that you will get 10 Tarmalune Trade Bars every time you open one, in addition to whatever random reward you get. Considering how the lockboxes in their other games work, it's very likely that each new lockbox will give the same Trade Bars, and the Trade Bar shop will be updated with more items to spend them on.

Trade bars are a garaunteed drop from any lockbox. This system is identical to that of STO, which calls them "Lobi crystals."
I dnt remember if the horse costs 2000 or 20000 bars.
200 AD + 125Z (key) per box, each giving 10 bars, I jut hope the horse costs 2000 bars... lol
Edit: The horse costs 2500 bars (thanks for the video Argantis). So if the information about every box giving 10 bars minimum is correct, we will need, if you dont get luck with bar drops, 250 nightmare chests, that will cost (assuming you will buy every box and will not wait for drops) 50000AD (boxes) + 31250 Zen (keys). AD wise, its cheap, but since 5000 zen costs $50, the Zen cost will be over $300.
Guess I dont need a Nightmare horse after all...
Know if keys can drop aswell? dont want to spend 200$ on the mount, but might spend a little to get the last ones needed.
If NW is like their other games (which there is no reason to think it wouldn't be), It can be purchased only with money, but the keys aren't bound which means you can buy/sell them at the AH.

Keys are only store bought, but they are tradable in game. In CO the common price for one key is 100g. Sometimes people will also trade 1 key for 20 lock boxes. However they get freemium money off of life time subs. So I expect the price to be steeper. Consider this. A lone key is $1.25. To buy 10 is cheaper per key, hmm 1125 zen for a x10 key ring. So that would be 112.5 Zen each. But lets just work with the individual keys.
Considering that you can cap 24k AD in one day, people will likely use the exchange to get it with Zen. The range possible for exchange of AD to Zen = 50:1 to 500:1, those are the ranges Cryptic allows in the interface.
So if people are willing to trade keys for AD, they will likely cost between 6,250 AD @ 50:1 on the low end or 62,500 @500:1 on the high end. So roughly one quarter of a daily refinement limit or two and a half days of refinement limit. Either way you should be able to earn them in game.
I highly doubt it will take $200 to get the mount the highest known amount to get a lock box item in STO was more like $150. At that rate you are looking at 37.5 days to 375 days to farm the item completely in game. Depending on the AD : Zen exchange rates and if people are trading it. So why don't we just say that it will take around six to seven months and that is being a pretty conservative estimate. Buy some keys yourself and that time goes down. If you are willing to pay oh say $50 in keys and farm the rest you could get it in 3-4 months. You would just have to dedicate yourself to it and hope that people are buying AD with Zen. That will probably be easier to do a year from now when all of the founders have blown their AD.
It is also interesting to note, that 20,000 people participated in beta weekend four. Not too many of those were new friend keys. Also Cyrptic stated that HotN was an overwhelming majority of the founders. So lets say 15k of those were actual founder purchases. That means that likely 2/3 are HotN and 1/3 GoN. 10,000 HotN founders @ $200 = $2,000,000. 5,000 GoN founders @ $60 = $300,000. Yeah the numbers could be off, but that is in the neighborhood of 2.3 million in founders. People are willing to put money into this game. I would not fear there being a lack of people to pay Zen for AD or Trade Keys for AD down the road. It will just take a bit for the game economy to really get going, maybe as long as a year but more likely just a few months for it to stabilize.
Just another number for you to think about. If 20,000 people spend $15 a month on the game that is $300,000 a month in Zen coming into the player economy. 30,000,000 Zen.
How do I aquire trade bars besides the damned lockboxes? I spent over $40 on keys and only have a fraction of the trade bars I need for the Jester's outfit!!!!!!!
Oh and I didn't get the mount or companion!

So in order to open these lockboxes you MUST use real money to buy a key? I thought you were able to trade in-game currency to do these things...
Boo!
you will, but nobody is selling their zen for diamonds right now. thepoeple in the game right now were given 600k minimum diamonds to play with from the start.
then the f2p crowd starts up you may start to see zen for sale.
The keys can be found in the AH as well, if people put them in there.

You can get some Lobi in Star Trek Online without opening a lockbox, but it is such an insignificant amount that anything useful requires opening lockboxes. Neverwinter could do the same thing.

Not really, Since it's early yet, the market hasn't really gotten there yet, but as others have said, it's like STO. Plenty of people put keys up on the Ah for whatever (there it's energy credits, i believe, and those aren't quite like AD here, you get those from questing and such). give the game and players time, and the AH will have plenty of keys, lockboxes, and what drops from the boxes. (not bars though, but mounts and such)

Do daily quest and invoke the gods every hour you play make AD, turn the AD into Zen on the exchange. there you just bought a key with out having to pay real money.

Yup. CO called them Drifter Salvage.
FYI, the minimum you get there is 2. The average (after opening a 1000 or so over on the test server via a lot of character copying) ended up being 2.8.
So keep that in mind for these Bars. That's a LOT of box opening unless the average is quite a bit higher than 10.

2,500 Bars for the +3 horse, 2,000 for the +1, but IIRC there is a range of bars you can get, not a fixed rate, in each lock box.
