I always dug 2nd Edition AD&D myself, but any reasonable inference would suggest that a new game would use the most recent rule set for its inspiration. I'm personally not a big fan of the prebuilts (GWF, DC, etc.) forced on us instead of true classes (e.g. Wizard), but that's the direction the game seemed to be married to, and I will enjoy it anyways.

Trolling about it being based on 4e is super lame, thanks though.
    Dystopia - Impact Cleric
    Nyx - Divine Cleric
    Medusa - Brush Wizard
    Spinnerella - Combat Wizard

Agreed. I want to try this game and think I am going to enjoy the everloving daylights out of it. Even though I personally despise 4E as a tabletop gamer, I am a 3.5 man myself. Ironically though the thing I detest about 4E is the reason why I think it will work here. Me and my friends all describe 4E as a tabletop MMO, because that's the feel we all got when we started playing it when it first released. So since 4E to me always felt like it was trying to be an MMO, I think it will work as the basis ruleset for an actual MMO lol.

4e. Honestly, i don't know why we haven't seen a video game based on it before this. 4e is the tabletop version of multiplayer video games. Its a giant bore around the table, but it will get along with mmorpg format quite well.

4e is trying to be an MMO - although I felt the same about 3e.
But, that actually helped me understand D&D combat better.

Seems like it should be an easier translation to crpgs.
Interested to see what WoTC comes up with for D&DN

I thought NWO was using a mix of rules but heavily based on 4E rules.
And of course based on 4E lore.
