Edited with level 50 videos.
I've seen a few posts around the forum complaining about a cleric's solo ability at higher levels so I put this video up in response to that.
I made no special effort to play well or even avoid getting hit most of the time.

Due to my general newbishness with video stuff I forgot to show my build in the video so I did that about 30 seconds after the above cuts off (and I don't know how to merge them into one video and I'm lazy). Build:

On the off chance someone thinks 1 level difference between me and the mobs matters here's a follow up with me at 41 still and the mobs at 42:

I haven't played the other classes so I have no comparison really but I don't think the cleric is anything close to weak in DPS or self-healing. The point of the videos is for people to judge for themselves though. So take it for what you will and hope the videos help someone in some way.

Pretty close to my playstyle until Ebon, then I switched out chains for HW. I know everyone knocks it, but its a few k every 15s. Decent passive regen since you can feather it between moves very easily (or stack up OOC)
If chains did more damage, or if rooting was a necessity I prob would have stuck with it. Perhaps dungeon play.
Edit: Have a dropbox sync going up. Will publish the two links from my HTC. Off on a road trip!
My armor at level 50 <most pieces being 46+> looks like a shiny can of tuna fish hahahahaha no really. it's kinda nice. Looks like full silver colored plate mail. I play a dwarf so it's compact, but toon resembles what I would think a paladin would wear. I run around in my peasant clothes. Blue top, Red pants thanks to the dye gift Gotta sport my impoverished look LOL
I will try to remember to break out fraps and upload a level 50 solo video in the higher areas. no longer get exp, but u can see the cleric solos quite easily. I am using the man at arms companion. he does a great job keeping a mob off me and tanking. With heals, I usually have no problems keeping him alive. Doing the solo dungeons, he tends to die on the boss and I tend to quaff potions too much due to our lower dmg, but they are fun fights. I have not died fighting, except when I hopped on my horse and just ran through the zone. can you say TRAIN !!! LOL it was epic though when I got knocked off hahahaha
I agree that chains isn't wonderful and I'm probably going to replace it with Break the Spirit, Divine Glow, or Astral Shield once I get those. I've never really felt I needed more healing though so I don't use HW. I see your point about it not being total garbage though. If I ever actually felt I needed more healing than FF, Astral Seal and on-crit heals provide I'd use HW way before I'd use Bastion of Health.
I started with:
Str - 12 (+4 from levels)
Con - 11 (+1)
Dex - 11 (+1)
Int - 13 (+1)
Wis - 17 (+3)
Cha - 19 (+2)
I haven't exactly decided what I actually want to do with ability scores yet. I personally think Con and Dex are useless. Int is fairly useless as well because it's only Recharge Speed so Cha is outright better.
As for Str vs. Wis vs. Cha I'm torn. Str provides 1% crit rating per point which is it's only selling point, but it's a BIG selling point. Wis has damage and healing bonuses but 1% more damage per point is really only 1-30 more damage depending on the ability and if it crits right now and it's 0-10 more healing per heal. Cha has Recharge Speed and Action Point gain which I honestly value higher than X% damage and X% healing.
Unless I'm not seeing something I wouldn't be surprised if come launch I end up with Str and Cha as higher stats than Wis.
I am also a little conflicted on the Cleric attribute points allocation. It seems like the other classes have an easier time as only 2-3 attributes really benefit them. I could make a decent arguement for 4 for cleric. I feel solid with Charisma being #1, but after that I am torn.
Can you explain how you spent your power points? I am only level 24, but as far as I can tell I will need to be 2/3 in every skill in order to spend any points in the 30 point tier. Maybe I am missing something.
Thanks again!
I did you one better and made a video of reassembling the build at level 50 after using a respec token! I also explain why I choose what I do for the most part.
I'm compressing then uploading right now but that and a video of running a solo quest instance immediately after should be up in around an hour or two. I'll update the OP with the videos once they're up.
Edit: Build explanation is in the OP now. Build test also up.
Either make it so they can't solo well or nerf their heals.. They are op'ed as it stands now
These are the last videos I'll be putting up during this beta weekend. I hope you all found them helpful, or a least entertaining.

Mostly full recovery build. Around 20% of gear is critical and armor pen specc'd
All points into CHA/INT except one I put into WIS
Will put another up with build when I FRAPS it today

John O'Callaghan - Stresstest (John Askew Remix)
Josh Gabriel - Winter Kills (Hot As Hades)
Stormcaller:
Gareth Emery - Exposure
4 Strings - Sundown
Glad you liked it. My lag was so bad from SEA the last day of beta I didn't bother using FRAPS
Limited my footage by a lot ><
They got a 50% nerf to self healing and nothing to compensate for it, and also any class can just take the devout cleric companion and never need to use a potion just like clerics
Uploaded my tunes for launch, if anyone needs a baller playlist :P
Let me know if there are any issue, first time sharing an entire folder:

Think I was at 38% 12% 17% respectively last go around. The feats that buff rec/AP/power on proc are quite nice and synergize well
Was the nerf to FF in place during BW4 or is this starting in OB?
"Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future."
"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught."
"Life is too important to be taken seriously.":)
Was between BW3 and 4
I failed to mention above that WIS is actually a good ability score still. You can gear for recovery and crit, but not for raw damage/heal numbers. Power scales 25:1, so every 4-5 power points you could have a full % of crit or recovery.
WIS at least gives 1% damage 1.3% healing (and minor control benefits)
Was sitting around 10%/13% with only adding one point to my base scores as a Tiefling. If there was a WIS/CHA race, it would be nice.
Humans are good, if you feel like you need more T4 Heroic Feats. There is +15%div generation/30%cleanse on heal/+30%armor pen buff on proc
Granted you are sacrificing a full 2% bonus of something, whether it is via STR/INT/WIS/CHA

Has a nice writeup of stat benefits and all the feats to start planning a build.
Feats:
20/23 Heroic
31 Paragon
I enjoyed all of your videos, but there's one thing that bugs me.
You guys barely use your Divine Power! I see it in every Cleric gameplay vid on youtube. It does nothing sitting at 3 pips, use it every chance you get! I almost never use Daunting Light without Divine Power, and I use Daunting Light off nearly every cooldown, and I never let my Divine Power reach a full 3 pips unless I'm setting up for a big fight.
Particularly with a heavy Recovery/CDR build like you l1zardo1. Rec boosts DP generation, yes? You should be popping empowered spells the millisecond they come off cooldown.
Other than that it was all solid gameplay!
Sometimes I keep the pips if the encounter is quite easy, so I maintain them for the above combo when I need it.
My 2nd Daunting CD is always when I am tanking, so it is quite easy to pick a spot where it will land w/o using Divinity.
Think if I had another power other than HW on my bar, I would use a little more Div ... maybe when I have lots of gold and don't mind chugging pots all the time lol, but that 100-150hp/s regen is quite nice ... specially since FF duration was trashed.
The Thunderhowl fight, I kept expecting to need my powers quickly with adds/emergency heals, but it ended up being pretty calm lol. So they were off CD a lot and not used
(I note that your post was 3 weeks prior to mine, so the cleric may have been different then to now ?)
This is actually from closed beta weekend 4. Though not much has changed regarding the cleric.
Helm's Hold is indeed a pretty significant spike in difficulty in the game. I had a fairly rough time when I first got there, the same goes for most of the later areas. My first time there it was rough for the first bit until I learned the mob AI, what to kill first, what attacks to avoid, etc...
Helm's Hold is also the first place (iirc) that you really need to start pulling mobs instead of rushing at them. Apart from that, always kill imps first, they die quick but hit like trucks. Use Chains + Daunting Light to nuke them down. Always drop Forgemaster's Flame on the stronger enemies, preferably a melee enemy, and stick close to it.
With a bit of practice you should get the hang of it, and don't be afraid to use potions if you need them. I know while leveling I died a few times because I forgot I even had potions.
