More lineart!

Cause I'm working on something fun! Here is one of two characters I am currently working on. The character is Ilztonim Barri'ath. He is a Drow Control Wizard that I will be playing with come live (Hes my leveling buddy!). I will be posting more pictures as I progress. I am really going to try and go all out on this one!...Try is the key word >_>

    Love the Lodoss Wars feel of the elfin looks, yet it still feels like it fits in the Realms! Very cool.

    The armor is actually in the game from what I saw from screenshots. It is what I based his outfit on. The robes he was originally in were baggy and didn't look right so I made them more like the Control Wizard clothing I had seen in game.

    Wow, I wish I had seen robes like that in the game. I had the same Carnival outfit up to lvl 40. No matter how many "different" robes I tried, they all looked the same:rolleyes:.

    Thanks for the Feature! Didn't think any of my stuff would get up there. I'm one of those self hating Artists..my stuff is never good enough! However! Ilztonim is Pyro's character. Hes my leveling/RP buddy for NW :3

    Updating with a WIP pic and a requested picture by a buddy!

    This is what I am working on with the Ilztonim picture! His woman Ama knows something is up! (love how her face came out)

    And this is a requested picture by a buddy of mine. This is her Drow. I plucked the pose off google cause I thought it was awesome for what she wanted. Sexy..yet..dangerous! Drow Rogues...always causing trouble.

    Have you ever tried experimenting with varying line weight? Line quality and such? I think it would really kick your work up a notch. ;) Because your sense of proportion and all the other things that matter are really impeccable.

    I have..I also kind of broke my Wacom pen doing such. I press hard when I draw and write so the tip is shoved in to the pen itself. Its not even 6 months old yet. I have to manually twirl my pen in my hand if I want to use a smaller tip without having to manually change the size instead of tilting it like normal people do. I also hold it weird so I'm trying to fix that. I have one of those bumps on my ring finger near the tip from where I hold my pens and pencils from over the years.

    You should see my men though. I kind of destroy them. I'm used to working with curves and making womanly things. Its what I excel at. Men...normally end up looking like women which is why I used a simple face on Ilzt. When I figure out my pen correctly or get a new one, definitely will look in to varying the line depth in certain areas. Are you thinking heavy outlines on the body and light on the inner workings?

    Not necessarily...
    More like adding volume to your lines.... weight.... like strokes. They start and end so abruptly and get lost as they are now. :(

    Do you mind if I crop a part of your last drawing and rework a bit as a tiny example?

    Ok!! I always ask first, some people get mighty offended when you start marking on their work!!! ;) But its so much easier to explain visually! This is the kind of thing I mean, I think if you varied your line weight it would just kick your work up! Just my thoughts anyways >_>

    Oh I see! Use the lines as a form of shading? Wider lines is more of a shaded area to show more depth?

    Right, also, the stroke would taper like a brushtroke where you would lift the pen/pencil from the paper. It is much more pleasing to the eye. :)
