Great class and fun; however, I would like to see for their first Encounter power (sorry I cant remember the name and cant get into the game right now as it is stuck on the login screen) a "Red Carpet" of the path that he will be dashing. This does two things, it tells me the path he is actually going to be going, and two how far he is going. Right now I am guesstimating and unless I am already close to my target, I have been stopping about 10 feet away from the target not doing any damage to them.
And my only other issue is how many healing potions I have to go through at early stages with them if I play solo (typically 3 - 5 of the minor healing pots) depending on the instance. And with caster fights, it seems to be at least 2 is needed during each fight.
Granted I expected to do more dmg as a DPS (maybe not as much as my Rogue, but close). It has taken me an hour of play time on my rogue to get to level 8, and about double that with my dwarf GW fighter.
Once I hit level 10 on the GW, things did go much smoother, however, still downing pots or running back to the "healing fires" in instances more than I do with my newly created rogue.
Anyone else's thoughts on the GW fighter??
"We know that the sheep live in denial; that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world...The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog...He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, cannot and will not ever harm the sheep...Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep...Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog.
One thing about that "dash" ability; I'm really not fond of its animation, it's just the way you hold your sword while doing it. For an attack that deals damage to multiple foes in front of you, while also propelling you forward I'd have much rather of had a leaping swipe, or maybe even a sliding swipe, type of attack.

The Dash attack would be better if the sword was held in front instead of above the head so it looks like your doing a running strike.
The damage of the great weapon fighter is quite underwhelming, sure it does ok against multiple mob but in PvP its not that usefull.
Players have to be really stupid to stand that close to eachother and the normal attack barely hurts other players.
1v1 vs any class you hardly stand any chance, the st damage is just to low, and you get spam disarmed by rogues and have no counter
Mighty Leap is a lack luster ability.. it needs a lower cd and its leap range needs to be longer... I like the class so far.. With my rogue i had a hard time agaist 2+ mobs and was really good at single target mobs.. With my great weapon Fighter i'm a beast at aoe fighting and not that great at single target.. I like the way it is.. To me it seems balance..... Keep it the way it is.. Every class has a roll to play... If the Great weapon fighter was good at single target and aoe then it would be OP.... Also in pve the GWF will usually get the most points but the least amount kills.... I love the fact when the other side is all grouped up I can just hop in the middle and hit everything.. I have noticed that other players in pvp always run away when they see GWF coming in to aoe.... I get my kills in aoe fights .. Seems fine to me.... I can't wait to try the other class's when they get released....
Edited... WOw i need to change my commited about GWF not being good at single target.. I just hit lvl 15 and got Sure Strike.. WOW this ability is nice... its a left mouse button ability.. It has smaller aoe radius like 5" and it attacks fast and does alot of damage.... I just did a pvp match and now i'm getting alot more kills lol.. One ability change's everything... It seems like it does the same amount of damage as Wicked
Strike but its faster and on its 3rd or 4rd hit it hits hard.... Very nice ability.. I think its way to early to judge a class before you have played it to at least mid lvl to high lvl....
Great weapon fighter was somewhat underwhelming at first, but around fifteen or so they really pick up. That first sword dash encounter power though? Ugly. It's bad. Just... bad. No impact, difficult to plan around in terms of movement.
It was seriously stomping face by the time I did the orc assault skirmish with high points in kills and damage and it made me happy after worrying they were kind of lackluster.

After first picking up GWF, I found it incredibly boring and tedious to level. Your first two at-wills are useless, and not to mention slower than a turtle. After getting my healslave companion though, things began to pick up, mainly because you can actually charge your tab skill without dying or using a billion pots.
I don't quite understand why people are complaining about the heal on restoring strike, it does more damage to a single target than any of the daily abilities, and it heals for 10% of what you hit.
After level 30, the class really begins to pick up with the new two at-wills you recently got. And if you go down the destroyer tree with your heroic and paragon feats, you begin to deal a lot more damage in both AoE and single target (still not as much as a rouge). Not to mention that if you go down the destroyer tree, you can build your tab ability off of doing damage, which you should be able to in the first place x.x''
The only thing about the class that is lackluster, in terms of PvE, is that the 1-20/30 experience is quite slow, and there needs to be something to make the class less reliant on heals/pots to solo effectively.

GWF is for me good class, at low lvl, his at-will attacks are so slow, really slow, lvl is quite boring but at higher lvl's it gets better, i managed to get to lvl 26 , and GWF for me,does crazy amount of dmg, i had lots of power and little crit, with restoring strike i managed to crit for 2500! my best so far.. the only problems i see is potions and running back to fire to heal you're self.. GWF is also good in pvp, i did dominion twice at lvl 12 and 25, at lower lvl i just couldnt do much dmg, but at 25 it was whole different story , avalanche plus restoring strike and that aoe spell, will definitely play this class again in open beta.
Got up to level 22 over the weekend. Struggled a bit at level 15 doing the plaguetouched quests, but I realised I hadn't upgraded my weapon since level 11. A quick visit to the weapon vendor and the quest was doable again. I used a ton of healing potions until I got my Cleric companion (although the healing aggro issue in BW3 made keeping her alive a real issue).
My biggest gripe is the healing strike power. The damage is great and it's a valuable ability for tough mobs, but the 10% heal's so small it might as well not be there. 15-20% might make it more noticable.

Agree with everyone else that GWF pretty much sucks at the lower levels. You don't really start to come into your own until about 15-16 and pick up a cleric companion. GWF can dish out some decent damage when you have a lot of creatures to hit.
Restoring strike, the heal is extremely lame. Just remove the heal component and either give it another benefit, like knocking the target down or increasing your damage resistance or simply up the amount it heals by a lot. Yes it does some of the heavier single target damage, but the whole "restoring" part is a joke and completely worthless based on the amount/cooldown.
The tab ability is cool, but really should build off damage done. Yes I understand there is a path later on you can go to get that, but really this should be a baseline function based on how the class itself pretty much plays. Also, the build up for it in pvp is really slow when compared to how long it lasts and the necessity of it to counter the large amount of CC being used here.
Reaping strike, this ability is kind of a joke. I removed it from my hot bar as soon as I had an alternative. The charge takes up too much time, and you move too slow while holding the charge to make it worthwhile. It would be about useless in pvp, and not much better in pve. Power attacks are cool and everything, but its just too slow and clumsy.
I only got the GWF up to 27 so I don't know how well the higher end does but once I had some good gear and hit about level 20 I had a lot of fun with the character, though he wasn't terribly great in pvp.
