I guess i'm a bit of an old timer. played my first tabletop d&d in 1990, and been playing rpgs like vampire and call of c'thulhu.
When RPG became a online happening i joined in and played mmo's like SWG, CoH, Vanguard, GW, GW2, Aion, DDO, SWToR, Warhammer and WoW. some more captivating then others.
i'm glade to see so many fellow elders. Believe that it's making NWO more exciting, as it looks like it's not gonna aim for the (very)young sigment, a sigment that has become tirering in so many MMO's.
I really wonna get into neverwinter and can't wait for it, therefor i guess that i'm gonna buy founders or guardians pack any day soon.
I guess i'm also gonna have to find a guild before release or even before beta weekend 2, soyou'll see me around on the guild recruitment page i guess.
facts about me age30 years located Denmark so i guess i'm the EU sigment Occupation got a BA as a teacher with mainsubjects in math, biology, religion and art. Today i'm working as a multimedia-designer (or with communication and designs if you like). favorite d&d lore I know this is forgotten realms, but i have to say that dragonlance was the lore that i love the most growing up.
anyways, hope to see you all inside and may it bring us all join.
There are older gamers here, including antediluvians like myself who played D&D in 1977 when I was eleven.
Superhero stories, done well, are about modern archetypes.
A Prootwaddle is one of the weirder player-character races in "The Fantasy Trip", Steve Jackson's first published role-playing game.

Yup, there are many of us old-timers that are going to be playing. I myself started in 1980 when my father got me the original trio of paperbacks and the mailorder dieties and demi-gods. hehe, yes I still have them.
As for rulesets, the only two I have been playing since then are basic D&D and 1st ed. AD&D. Our group looked into 2nd ed. but it seemed too commercialized with to much **** to buy so we decided to stay with 1st ed.
I would like to see an old timers guild put together so we can show all these young-ins how it is done.
we only had a copy of second edition ad&d players and dungeonmasters handbook, from the local library, dices that you could only get in the capital and the dragonlance novels (Chronicles and legends). we managed with that and it was fantastic! never tried others as all we needed was in those books.
not a bad idea about an oldtimer guild. a guild of people there for the nostalgic and the lore, not the 15 mins of fame that most mmo's goes through these days.
