I am an MMO player that has never ventured into the Neverwinter Nights games. I am, however planning to give this game a shot. So, I am a veteran tp online games, but a noob on the Forgotten Realms stuff, Anyone help me prepare for some roleplay by giving me some background on The city itself, timeline and general synopsis of anything that could get this noob ready for the game? a link would be fine or recommended reading. thanks

    Hey stucool66,

You might want to check out the Forgotten Realms wiki which is the campaign Neverwinter is based off. :)

I am a newb about the game also. My wife has wanted me to read all the D&D books she reads. I was always like na. I am a huge MMO player though. Well She finially told me about this game coming out because of the current books she was reading. I can not believe a game that looks this well slipped my radar. (thanks IGN never any PC love over there)

I am reading the books that lead up to the game now, they are wonderful. I just started last weekend and i'm half way through the 3rd book. She has about 20 books, shes almost matching my Star Wars collection. I would maybe suggest reading those books before launch, wife thought I would get confused since I know nothing about anything, but I caught on pretty quick and will soon branch out to all the other books.

I think you and your wife will like it. It has both male and female comments. The female is very humoristic and the male is MMO veteran, but both including the female have good lore knowledge. Have fun. You can also search on youtube "Neverwinter Firefly" if you like the fun male and female comments, but they are very useful info also.

I too am fairly new to Dungeons and Dragons and the Neverwinter series, can someone point me in the direction of some of the "essential" books that help cover the main points fromt the game? I understand a dark elf (Drizzt?) is a main player, but would also like to read more about things that effect the area the game is based on. I have a fairly long commute to work so would hope to have read 6 or so books before the game is finally launched.

We have had a similar discussion start earlier today in fact. There are a few books recommended that have neverwinter as a setting, as well as many forgotten realms books in general.

Ty yes I've watched all there videos that I've found of firefly, believe they had a post up with all there videos listed. Very grood vids. Wife is more into the lore and everything she use to be big on MMOs EQ1.

When I was in Navy I couldn't keep up with her. Now she doesn't play to many games with me... it was all a trick to get me to marry her. I am hoping this game with alot of lore that she already knows will maybe bring back our old times of EQ. I still remember her Dark Elf necro kitting huge frogs. The only reason my little Wood Elf ranger was there for was his snare. I ran behind that big frog and stabbed and sliced as much as possible. We spent hours hell prolly days fighting these frogs that could one shot either one of us.. sometimes it did one shot us but not very often.

Looking forword to this game and have been hitting the wikis and anything else i've found to try and get me a little knowledge before launch. I am really loving the D&D lore, and community so far.

Ahh the good old days of EQ1.. I as well loved it and played a ranger loved to kite things with endless quiver and trueshot disciple was amazing that game was.. Where did all the good old kiting games go too? Seems they all dried up. Man that was alot of fun but ohh well..

    Welcome to Neverwinter!
