I thought that STO lifetimers would be having access to the betas. Was I mistaken? because I haven't received a key. Meanwhile my roommate who's never played a cryptic game received one yesterday. Odd.

STO/CO don't get beta access till March 8-10. I'm hoping we'll get our access before then. Still kinda weird and annoying that people that (presumably) haven't paid a thing or participated at these boards are getting access already while the rest of us are waiting.

Only Neverwinter Founders have access to the Beta this weekend.

Cryptic has always only guaranteed phased access, not day one access, for all Previous Beta Keys. Sorry for any confusion.

This was not what was said to us in person at pax and other big events over the past 2 years.

Eh, you have me there. PAX, E3 and some of the other gaming conventions did not state whether those keys would be phased or not.

However you didn't exactly have to pay for those either so I don't see see it as comparable to the multiple other paid for promotions which directly stated the keys only guaranteed phased access to the Beta Tests.

Cite it, otherwise didn't happen. Long ago has Cryptic made the statement that all these beta key do not mean day one beta access and that it will be a phased process. Numerous threads and quite a few Cryptic posts on this matter. Unless they specifically said that it will grant day one access then it doesn't matter and they would have to have said closed beta.

The very first post is updated as new information is revealed. The setup might not be ideal with regards to those who have been with them the longest, but it can't be helped.

Well quite possibly there were some staffers there that did not communicate those facts very well.

Never trust spoken word - unless you get it on camera.

    A leason learned^
(not saying it doesn't suck, just saying I've learned not to take what people said at their word, from game companies or otherwise, and specially from Cryptic)

Sad but true. I wish gaming companies would just learn to be quiet about things. And that making a promise and breaking it even when it's not a big thing is just so so so bad. Just DONT make the promise... One of the things I asked again and again is "will we see a Large list of classes and races?" To which I always got "oh yes we are working on it" This is my massive pet peeve right now. Beta is here and we have 4 classes and 5 races, And all vanilla. Sheesh EVERY fantasy mmo has more then that right now. >.< It's frustrating since D&D has a much larger list then MOST game IP's. That and DM controlled player created maps.

Its too bad that Cryptic had to learn the lesson of keeping their mouth shut. Learning what the devs would like to do was fun, but people were taking Cryptic's current goals as promises. Some stuff is just not possible or not worth the time and sometimes that revelation doesn't happen till its 90% done. Cryptic saying we would like to do this usually gives feedback on whether it is a good idea or not and it is something I miss when Cryptic was naive rather than its current state of being cryptic.
