Currently playing DDO, and playing Pathfinder with my table top group. After 3 years, I've been playing less DDO lately, as the lag and over all game play have just started to wear on me. So I am really excited about this game, since I'm going to need something D&D related when I finally walk away from DDO. I'm sure my wife will be thrilled.

Frankly I'm not playing anything at the moment. I've toyed with the idea of picking up GW2 or TSW but haven't so far. Like most of us, I have a limited amount of playing time and no game has really jumped out at me and said "play me"!

The free time I have now, I've been using to catch up on some reading and such. I'm extremely interested in the development of this game and I'm looking forward to playing it and exploring what it has to offer. The Foundry offers something unique in the gaming industry and I think it will actually help to determine the long term success of this game. Dev's can only crank out so much content, with the players themselves able to create content this is a huge shot in the arm to long term success.

So I will continue to bide my time and wait for beta and release, until then, my nose will be buried in books, enjoying Neverwinter the old fashioned way.

    My Best,

    Ezra

Currently the only thing I am playing on is the Neverwinter forum with all you fine folks and engaging truthie in some rather fun banter in The Source Stone Tavern. b:laugh

Have not stretched these RPG muscles in a while!

My computer is so old that I can't play most of the games you people mentioned. EQ1 being the last MMORPG I played before family and professional responsibilities demanded more time from me. b:sad

However I find myself with a bit of a lighter schedule these days and a 3G Ipad so I can check and post on the forum just about every waking hour.

I am currently saving up money for a new computer to use for Beta (should I be blessed with a key) in 2012 or open game play in 2013. Black Friday sales I am waiting for and checking out CNET and Slick Deals as well.

On that topic, any guesses as to basic system requirements? Any recommendations on brands or custom builders in the Los Angeles area? I am looking to spend about $1-$1.5K as I need a new lap top anyway but might as well get something with enough power for Neverwinter. I travel for work a lot so a desktop won't do if I want to play on the road.

All advertisements point to Alienware (even used in some of the youtube videos of official Neverwinter demo's with Andy and Craig) and I have been on their website only to be thoroughly confused. All their "recommendations" on the custom build a computer app ended up building a $3k computer. b:shocked I bet it's a wonderful piece of tech for games, but I have neither the funds nor need for this monster of a gaming machine. Just something with decent to nice processing speed, graphics, sounds, memory and portability (have an old 17 in and it's a beast to pack, 14-15in will do)

    thoughts?

    1. The specs of NW are going to be lowest compared to their other games. So any computer that can play those two games should be able to play NW.
    2. The specs of NW are going to be highest. The graphic settings of NW are going to be better and higher than two other cryptic games. It will be more beautiful than other two cryptic games.

Both the above statements are true. NW will have more range to allow for lower as well as higher settings.

I used to live in San Fern Eastish in NoHo but recently moved to the San Gabriel Valley.

Was there for over 12 years just off of Laurel Canyon and the 101.

Moved for work as my territory changed and we wanted a bigger house as my 2bd 2bth condo was getting a bit small.

I guess you missed my post about buying you a beer IRL should one day we meet b:victory

Perhaps I can come over and borrow your computer to play NW b:laugh

So... a comparable processor, hardrive capacity requirement as STO with a video card and ram greater that STO I assume?

Was playing TSW, and PS2 beta, but now that my sights are set on Neverwinter as my long-term home I decided to get back into DDO. I want to get my D&D mindset going again before this game comes out (or beta hits).

Most pre-builts for around $1000 should handle this game like a champ, especially if the graphics in the videos are any indication. I just built my own gaming rig last holiday season/early this year.

I spent around $1300-$1500 on mine, watching sales and picking up a few pieces here, a few there. This rig looks sweet and actually plays stuff like Skyrim with the HD textures and max graphics settings. (It lags a little sometimes, but I've been too lazy to overclock anything like I should.) The only thing I kept from my older system was the hard drive. Everything else, including the monitor and OS were replaced. Comparable pre-builts at the time to my system were $3000-$4000.

At that budget you can get a lot more system for your money, if you do the work yourself and watch sales flyers. If there is a *good* computer parts seller in your area they can help point you towards good products too and help make sure components are compatible if you don't normally mess with that sort of stuff. They can also help plan ahead, pointing you towards products that won't be completely obsolete and require more costly replacements down the road. (Such as having to replace the MOBO, CPU, and RAM because one of the three died and you can't get a compatible replacement.)

The place where I got all of my components, and the occasional advice, was Micro Center. They only seem to have one store in Tustin, California, about 30 miles southeast of LA. I've never been to that one specifically but the one here in Columbus, OH has a good selection, good sales, and a very knowledgeable team in their BuildYourOwnPC department.

    Hope this helps!

As awesome as that sounds, my computer building skills leave much to be desired. A prebuilt sounds like the best way to go. Any recommendations on brands or companies, as I said Alienware seems to be the most visible of brands for gaming tech. I wouldn't mind getting a more powerful less pretty computer for the same amount of money, but i do have to admit Alienware does look wicked for a computer...

It has 2500K processor gtx 560 nvidia, 1TB hard drive, 8gigs of ram, and win 7 64 bit and nothing else installed (a la HAMSTER). So I'm sure that you should be able to find something similar at newegg.com

Ill be playing the new Pokemon games starting the 7th plus a few other DS/3DS games with my little brother who just got a 3DS. Afterwards some Halo 4 and Assassins Creed 3. Maybe Skyrim but I cannot seem to stop playing Skyrim wihtout logging at least 100+ hours of gameplay so I take it in bits. Other than that no idea, I already quit D3(that game was the biggest mess I have ever seen)

Yah I am playing it to help him. A few weeks ago he was rummaging through my old stuff and found a couple of the old gameboy color games I used to play and know he likes Pokemon so I figured Id play with him.

I havent actually played many new games lately as I picked up the hobby of fixing cartridge based consoles . I have been playing the things to make sure consoles/controllers work well, original Super Mario Bros., Mortal Combat(SNES), Super Street Fighter4(SNES), etc.

If my DnD group would be willing to play again Id do that, though I am probably going to start a campaign for my little brother.

I may play Portal 2 again or Arkham Asylum, or NWN I just dont know.

Right know I have family in so I havent been playing games as much

I am however watching the shows Grimm, Once Upon a Time(I watch this one with family) and Revolution.
I will most definately be watching the Hobbit movie when it comes out.

And Faleth77 I used to play WoW but I quit

I-5 processor 2.5ghz, 6gb ram, 2gb video memory, nividia 650m graphics and a partridge in a pear tree for under $900. new, not refurbished, probably last year's model or something, but good enough for me with the STO minimum / recommended requirements in mind.

got computer, got key, ready to rock and roll!
