I'm hoping they are included.
1/2 Off Topic: Is Dragonborn a "monster" race? If they are including monster races then I'd beg for Half-Ogre, Gnoll, etc. If they only include one super race, then it will seem like everyone will play that race instead of the boring Human, Elf, etc. My fears are based on 3.5. Are the races more balanced in 4e? Are there any good links detailing races and classes? (Sorry for the lazy question, but I've searched the past few days and all I see are advertisements.)

Dragonborn is core race native to Toril (because Abier has merged with it) with most dragonborn belonging to "Lawful Good" kind of society. They are nemies of dragons as drgons made them slaves - except for the dragon god bahamut. Those worshipping the evil aspect of dragon are there too but very less.
I hope that the dragonborns become limited to play
you know:
how many Worgens, Taurens and now Pandas are in WoW?
how many Gorns, Caitians and Ferasans are un STO?
how many Beastmen are in PWO?
yes is pretty cool race and all, but it will become overused by many people and furries/scalies
(I dont have nothing against furries/scalies but the game will become "infested" by dragonborns because "Oh cool I'm Anthro Dragon!! lololhaxxox! umad?")
now compared with the gorns of STO, dragonborns HAD genres(Males AND Females) Playable... good lord... now I'm scared...

Lorewise they should be as common as humans, elves or dwarves in FR. I don't see why they should be any less than any other race.

Really? well... when this race enters the game as an update or at some point in the development I hope not to see an overpopulation of only that race in the future.
you underestimate the popularity of drizz-clone army, dwarven drunkards and wood-huggers. However, humans will eventually win. All races apart from humans are useless and inferior anyways...

Dragonborn would be a nice addition later on as an upgrade or play reward.
I would love to see them in C-store (or is that Z-store nowdays?) for lets say 1500 Z-points.
Cryptic has to make money to keep the game running!
And a race that players like is a good way for them to make money. Nothing wrong with that!

I'd really like to see a monstrous race, something other than the normal Human, Halfling, Dwarf, Elf thing. If Dragonborn are the only option, then I'm all for them. Not a big fan of the breath weapon, seems cheesy, but it is lore, so...

True just like they left out the Eladrin and the Halfling. Back to Dragonborn though they are actually the first race you see in the 4.0 PH. I really would like all of these added for free as they are in the first 4.0 PH, they are your everyday races. I mean the Dragonborn are even included in the DnD 4.0 Neverwinter Campaign for goodness sake.
Im fine if later on though they add the races from PH 2 and 3 for buying but at-least give us the "base" races from 4.0 for free.
All of the races are "base" races. The way 4e is set up is that if it was published it is core.
That said 4e did an awesome job making all races/classes balanced. A dragon born is not way more powerful than a human who is not way more powerful than a dwarf, etc.
Depending on how much we can customize I am eventually hoping for a Deva swordmage, a Tiefling rogue, Mul monk, gith battle mind, shifter ranger, half elf blade singer, and a genasi warlock.

....
Warforged is not a base race nor native to Toril.
Dragonborn were not native to Toril earlier but now they are after Abier merged. Apart from the fact that they no longer are offsprings of dragons (lore change) but just a reptilian race of unknown origins. Their relation to dragon is like human relation to Big foot/yeti.
I'd really like to see a monstrous race, something other than the normal Human...
I would have said tieflings, but they are now a human mutation and not monsters anymore. Maybe genasi - but their models (making them beings of fire, shards etc.) would be tough with separate animations so don't expect at launch.

For the record:
the race livs/lived on the parallel world Aber which a continent swapped places with Toril (Mazica, and other lands) with what is known as "Returned Toril." This is where all the "new races of Fourth Edition" come from.

Races/classes are very balanced in 4e.

Just want to say that STO has Gorn, and with a little work it might work, that is if they have not added Dragonborn from start.
But then again I dont know if they can use what they have in another game b:chuckle

Halflings are in, it was confirmed.
