Using 64 bit IE8 with Vista 64 bit home premium SP2 whenever I hit the main page with it it locks up hard and I have to shut it down in task manager. The only way I can access this site is through Firefox. Anyone else seeing this?

I dont use IE but i have IE8 on my pc and its really damn slow if i do use it ( as i sometimes have trouble on these stinking new forums with firefox) it so slow i sometimes think it has frozen.
Gotta say the old forum was way better than this POS forum.

I don't have any trouble at all with any browser on either the forums or the site. I don't think it's website issue.

Sure it is i never had any problems with the previous forum, this forum just has issues with most likely with some pretty basic add ons and **** like that and that's certainly a sign of poor quality on PWI part.
I have issues when using ie8 but then my ie isnt even set up as i don't ever use that one so that to be expected.
My main one is FF i dont have trouble anywhere else except here, can't be bothered really to check it out but im fairly certain its an issue with an add on like ad blocker+ or something.
Funny thing is that i had no issues till we got this forum and i dont have many add ons. I just have the ones that come standard with FF 12.0 and i added adblocker plus along with ad blocker pop up addon these two i added show up under extensions and that it.

Hey, don't ya know... it is never user-error!
Seriously though, if it was the web site, hundreds of other users would be complaining about issues and not just a couple. Personally, I use Chrome exclusively with the only extension being the NIS Addon that came with my NIS product. I have absolutely no issues, what-so-ever.
It is well known that using ad-blockers can cause issues loading sites that have coding dependent on loading those ads. So, that could be one minor cause of any loading issues. I doubt this is the issue though. If I had to just guess at the slew of possible user-caused issues, it would be as I said in another thread on this same topic:
...every time I try to open the games homepage it freezes windows....
What browser are you using?
---Is it fully up to date?
---What addons/extensions do you have installed in it?
What graphics card do you have?
---Is your graphics card full updated?
What OS Version do you have (E.G. XP, Vista, 7)?
---Do you have all critical Microsoft updates?
What AV/Firewall softwares are you using?
---Is it updated?
---When was the last time you did a complete scan for viruses?
Are you going through a router?
---Is it wireless?
---Does your router have the latest firmware installed for it?
What do you use to scan and remove Malware?
---Is it updated?
---When was the last time you scanned for Malware (E.G. of Malware: Spyware, Adware, Toolbars)
How many icons are on your taskbar, next to the clock?
---Do you have a lot of programs that start up when windows starts?
---What are they?
What type of internet do you have (E.G. Dial-Up, Phone Broadband, Cable Broadband, Sattelite)?
How many different web sites do you generally visit?
---Do they also have ads and other active graphics/videos?
---Do they also experience these hiccups?
When was the last time you cleared your browser's history, cookies and cache?
---Do you have cookies blocked?
---Do you use an ad-blocker (if so, what one?)?
There are so many more things that can cause freezing and lag at the oddest times or in seemingly-random programs. Seeing how you are the only one I have heard with loading issues with this web site, I can only assume it is a user-error, whether you know it or not.
If you need advice on how to check any of that or update any of that, please feel free to ask.
Haven't you heard? IE sucks. Get either firefox or google chrome. Google chrome recommended.
Or just get both so you have a backup. They are fairly small programs after all.

Also make sure your firewall us up to date and it AND your browser permit perfectworld.com (and only that domain part.) Edit: Also, try switching to Firefox as mentioned by the support person on this thread's page.

Have you tried visiting the page with 32bit IE and is upgrading to IE9 and option for you?
Also check your plug-ins, especially Flash, to make sure they're up to date and see if that makes a difference.
