advice wanted: refinements/enchantments

since mod 22, on my main (cleric arbiter) the only enchantments I have are the soul shield (I find it helpful for survivability) and companion enchantment, both rank 1 bought from the sage shop.

I wanted some advice on what other enchantments to start getting. are there ones that I should prioritize/invest in immediately?
(I would like general advice since I also play the cleric as a devout healer in random queues and a ranger ranged dps alt)

I feel like my main priority for all characters would be to get a soul shield enchantment first.

1. I have ~150 enchantment medallions from turning in. should I spend it on one "combat/companion enchantment rank 4 choice pack" (cost 120) and one "enchantment rank 1 choice pack" (cost 30)? -- I do not think I have enough rare ingredients to upgrade a rank 4 to the account version.

2. does the "combat/companion enchantment rank 4 choice pack" only have selection from: battle tempered/cursed burn/poisoned thorn/flash freeze/fortified nature/soul shield/companion ?

3. is it worth upgrading any pre-mod 22 rank 9 enchantments to rank 10 so I can turn them in for medallions? I only had a few, and I do not have the necessary marks of potency right now - is it worth it? I would not be using a coalescent mote so the chance of success is 20% -- meaning I would be sacrificing a bunch of marks of potency since that seems to be the only ingredient that cannot be warded against failure with preservation wards. (** do marks of potency still drop in-game? have they been replaced by glyphs of potency completely?)

4. are there any adventures/campaigns that reward an enchantment? I saw comments that the Acquisitions Incorporated adventure storyline gives you a rank 1 combat enchantment choice pack, but I do not see one in the adventures story rewards (when you go to the adventures/campaign journal to see the end reward - it only indicates swag bag/boon point/armor set/AD). do you get an enchantment choice pack midway running the adventure storyline?

(I know about the enchantment that you can get from the current draconic rage campaign)

    Note: Be sure to upgrade 2-3 of your Regular enchantments first, prior to doing your Combat One.
    ╘ Combat, doesn't give +Combined Rating, and you want that higher or you're less effective.

    Well I admit I also bought a Soul Shield for my 4-5 main Elves, most were 32,500 Item Level; though you can buy 1600 armor off AH also very Cheap, similar for Rings at 1400. I haven't played in 2 years either, but then later got very close to 40k. So I like it when they die to be resurrected, so once I get my first to Mythic I'll convert it to Character Bound, then reclaim it on all my toons so they each have one at Mythic.

    Also realize what I wrote below, cause don't spend a lot at Sage on Enchantment Medallions; they only good for TOP-UPS. Otherwise your BEST to just buy unbound enchantments from Sage below, it's cheaper. o:)

    Then I may sell my unbound Soul Shield (that weren't upgraded) on 2-4 of my others, and trade on AH to add a Fortified Nature, Flash Freeze, as well as for Offense 'Cursed Burn' seems to be the choice many make. Then I'll upgrade 1 of each, to give them all choice. Poisoned Thorn I've heard some avoid because often it can say Immune on Boss, or Mini-Boss in fights. I'm sure however it does strike (sometimes) for higher magnitude damage, and both boost overall damage by 10% at Mythic.

    I find most toons generally get 4 Garnet, because Power/Defense choice is WISE combination to make. The other 4 I'd mix up between the remaining, Jade and Cobalt are great for Crit and Crit Severity often in offense; also Citrine & Amethyst as Accuracy is important, and awareness helps you being pummeled.

    Most my toons all got the Recharge Bonus at first, but again as before once I upgrade one to Mythic; then I may sell 2-4 of my others and trade for a Action Bonus, Stamina Bonus, or a Movement Bonus.

    NOTE: Sage also sells Enchantments in her Shop that unbound, so don't spend a FORTUNE on the 1 Enchantment Medallions for 40,000 AD! Those are only good as TOP UPS, for example if you have 28-29 or 50-59 and just short on getting another uncommon or Rare. Some like Rare as it saves them Motes, you don't always need a Coal Mote though; can buy most Motes cheaper on AH though I mostly stick with Standard or Very Rare mostly. I wouldn't waste the diamonds on the Legendary One, as you could almost get a Coal then and be WISER for it. Also you'll want to use 1 of each Ward, for each upgrade chance, or if you slot non it will choose 1 refinement/ward/gold to consume. You definately don't want to loose your Glyph's, and those also cheaper on AH than from the Wonderous Bazaar.

    Also save up your Celestial Coffer Chests for a 2x Event, I'm sure they still have those to earn more Ward's or Motes; they also sometimes drop from Dungeons too.

    1. What is the rare ingredients you refer to for upgrading a rank 4 to rank 5? Do you mean Glyph of Potency? If yes, it is 50K AD per in Wondrous Bazaar (this is the most expensive way). If you have VIP, it is 37.5K AD per. If you don't have VIP, buying it from AH would be cheaper than 50K. You can also get it from Sybella and it is 10 Heroes Medallion per. If you mean c-mote, yes, that can be expensive.

    2. I think your list is correct.

    3. No.

    4. In AI campaign, in the end, you used to get a Heart of Fire Enchantment, Rank 14 from the under city "temple" (not through the journal). Since that enchantment is obsolete. I assume they could have changed that to rank 1 combat enchantment choice pack.

    thanks for the advice. I think I have a better idea what to focus on.

    I did run a character through the Acquisitions Incorporated adventure storyline, and (in case anyone is wondering) the rank 1 combat enchantment choice pack is awarded after finishing the quest temple intrusion. so I got another (btc) soul shield enchantment for an alt.

    1. In order of importance:

    - Spend on the Companion Rune. Because getting that to rank 5 means sharing it with your other toons at no further cost or hassle.
    - Combat Rune - If you play support, then Soul Rune is a good choice to max out first. If you focus on DPS, then Poison, Cursed, or Thorne: take your pick.
    - Look at your build (equips, companion bonuses, mounts, collars, insignias). Decide where & how you want to bolster your numbers. If you want to boost crit strike/crit severity on flat numbers, adjusting both your enchantments and your insignias are the simplest "set and forget" way to do it. Both allow for the 2250 boost while gradually building on your resources to rank them up.
    - DO NOT BUY ANY MEDALLIONS FROM THE CLAIMS VENDOR. This is an AD trap. Spend the medallions you have and move on.

    2. iirc those are your only choices, yes.

    3. No. It's a resource burn in RP, Potency Stones, and/or Pres Wards. Mod 22's system change still bites imho, but nothing can be done about it at this stage. Shard your enchants. Unless it's the weapons/armor enchants and you want those visual effects. In which case you have to get them to rank 8, which costs 5 Mark of Potency Rank4 and either one Coal or an ungodly amount of Press Wards.

    4. At this point in time, no there are no Adventure/Campaign yielding any enchantment rewards beyond the Ancient/Legacy enchantments that are now of no use. Cryptic was asked in a livestream if that was going to change, and they responded there aren't any plans at this time to do so.

    just had a question --

    what is the general way that people would refine (upgrade) an enchantment? do people generally get a primitive mote (1%), and burn through preservation wards? I think my understanding is that each round attempt uses up 3x preservation wards. I am not sure if this new system eventually builds up a guaranteed 100% chance after 100 tries.

I think my understanding is that each round attempt uses up 3x preservation wards. I am not sure if this new system eventually builds up a guaranteed 100% chance after 100 tries.

    Using c-mote to upgrade enchantment is the only choice that makes sense.
    I believe the upgrade try cap of upgrading the enchantment is 150 failures.

    ugh, I guess I did it the wrong way then - I just bought some standard motes from auction, and then went through a ton of preservation wards to upgrade a rank 1 companion enchantment to rank 5. the first upgrade (from rank 1 to rank 2) took about 140 failures, so that was very frustrating and I was cursing my bad luck, but the next few upgrades each took around 10-20 tries only. but yeah, I did go through a lot of preservation wards. I do not understand why upgrading a rank 1 enchantment should have a base 0% chance of success. that does not make sense.

    The current enchantment (even rank 1) is higher grade than the old rank 15. rank 15 had 1%. The new one is "better", it has less chance than previous rank 15.
