"Capture a Mysterious Symbol from an Enemy" from Alinda Greenwood. Posting here because no one's RNG can be THIS bad.
IIRC my older characters (2 years or more) only had to slay 10-30 foes to get the Symbol. That was before 2 rounds of "streamlining the leveling experience".
So far (using the Zhentarim Agent's "Slay quests" as a counter), Lydia has slain more than 117 foes within the marked area - but no drop. Since the reward is 1 Fanatical Writings, needed to complete that part of the EE campaign, perhaps a slay cap should be added to the RNG drop calculation.
Moreover, I apparently need to complete this one before Udo Stoneskin or Flora Newleaf will offer new quests, so I cannot simply bypass this one.
P.S. "Herbal Remedy" and "Caravan Relief" are completed.

Yes, it can. That quest is terrible, almost as bad as the Cyphered Scrolls quest in Spinward Rise.
