I'm not clear on the lore of ToNG but is it really necessary to do the 3x insert keys thingamajig to challenge Orcus? The Infernal Citadel has the options to choose 1/3 buffs but does not require all 3. (I actually don't get why heroes are forced to take a demon buff to progress in TIC either, but I can make a separate post about that.) Of course there is a workaround for those who want to solo ToNG by soliciting willing others who would join the queue just to insert the keys and then leave after. However, from reading the tomes around the arena (?)/sacrificial platform I have not made any connection yet that those ramblings about blessings and curses would be associated with the skulls/keys required to progress. I mean, I find Acererak buffing adventurers at all is inexplicable because why would Acererak want to buff heroes to potentially kill off Orcus, or the current gatekeeper at that point if Orcus has already been killed or busy elsewhere. I guess it's entertainment for him or I'm missing some detail? Please reconsider (or explain why there are mechanisms) forcing players to take buffs so that solo adventuring/challenges are possible. Consider also that surely, the keys/skulls could be interacted with by heroes/adventurers using a proxy or intermediary item to avoid directly touching them and avoid being affected by anything.
Oh I see why, arcgames.com hasn't updated which account I'm logged in as. My profile name at the top of the page shows roadkill but sudp is another account I'd logged into in another tab to review a recent ticket.
I think soloing stuff is frowned upon tbh. Scaling was supposed to make it more difficult to do so, and in many cases it worked. But there are some runs that can be solo'd easy enough(FBI, MSP, Tong) to name a few. Personally I used to love soloing ECC and calling in alliance for last boss, I still go to FBI by myself for fun.
As for the buffs, some groups will still need them. Not everyone has grown past that content.
Every content can be soloed. I have soloed every dungeon up to ToNG. CR and TIC have been soloed, and I strongly believe LoMM can be soloed, though I don't know of anyone who has done it yet.
Who frowns upon soloing content? I don't think it should be frowned upon at least by the Devs because the questlines are abundant with scenarios where NPC's split the party.

Bleh, I assume you're referring to ToMM? Well, I should've simply referenced only content that has been soloed or can be and not have said "Every content can be soloed." However, here is a Mod18 Tiamat Solo on xBox:
On one hand I think it would be a great idea to allow 1 player to select all three buffs. However with that said I can foresee if they did that, newbies brand new to tong running random epic dungeon queue would take all 3 simply not knowing what they were doing and they would be queued in as healing warlock thus really setting the party back since the only person who can get the green orbs is the player who chose the HP buff (far left pillar).
I think all content should be soloable. But how or why you would want to solo Lomm is just a practice in trying to move from sanity to insanity as quick as you can. Can you really handle mimics solo? Don't you need to kill 6 minics total to kick you out of the mimic phase. Can this really be done solo without spawning a HAMSTER load of golems? The rest of the dungeon is easy enough it's just the first boss fight Arcturia that would be annoying to fight solo.
I find it highly unlikely that in a party, a new hero in ToNG would take all 3, and if they did I see that as a minor problem and/or a suitable punishment/consequence for a foolish adventurer pressing all the buttons without pausing after pressing anything to consider what may have changed/the effect that just happened.
However, let me emphasize the method that makes most sense is to make it possible/optional to progress without taking any blessing/curse.

Except that the game mechanic isn't set up for that.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

Let a single player interact with all altars, taking on all 3 buff/banes at the same time.
